Inspired by some restoration videos online, I dug out my old CPC 464 from the loft. It still works but needs some work. The tape drive rewinds OK but the play/forward motor is weak and will not turn when a tape is inserted. All the keys work Ok and the colour screen is as good as it ever was.
There's definitely some retrobrighting to do here, is there any recommended method with the coloured keys of the Amstrad.
Also, there is some fading of the red colour on the 'instruction plate' under the tape deck, is there any way to restore this?
I'm moderately technical, good at sloldering and can happily poke about with circuit diagrams etc so if anyone might be able to advise me, I'd really appreciate it!
Good stuff, a new tape belt is likely to fix the issue with the cassette deck. Can't really help with the other bits though. Look forward to hearing your progress.
