Hi everybody !
I tried to plug my Cpc 6128 (crtc 3-eratz) thaïs afternoon but as you could see there is a big problem.
No basic boot, no bip with del key, just coloured screen!
Who could help me to fix this problem ?
Ast,
Are you able to replace the Z80? It may have gone to zilog heaven or hell...lol
When even key presses do nothing, it suggests that maybe also the ROM/RAM is not responding and so you may need to check if they are okay.

For the RAM Check, how CAN i do if my Cpc doesn't switch on ?
Hi Ast, bad luck indeed. Check the RAM chips, if they are getting hot then it will require new chips.
It's not the Z80. To get that square on the screen the Z80 needs to have successfully retrieved commands from the ROM and sent them to the CRTC, so the CRTC, ROM and Z80 are all ok. Most likely there's a problem with RAM. If your ROM is socketed or you have a Lower ROM Board of some sort, then @gerald (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=250) wrote a rather nice RAM checking ROM routine which you can use to find out which RAM has died.
Bryce.
you are right bryce, I forgot about that.... lesson learned :D

Hi everybody,
RAM are cold ! So ???
Is it possible that eratz died ?
I tried to plug an xmem but all symptôms are the same!!
The x-mem can replace the lower ROM can't it? Try installing the RAM Test ROM from @gerald (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=250) and see what it reports. Broken RAMs don't always get hot, they can be completely cold and still broken.
Bryce.
The RAM test is in this thread : http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/amstrad-cpc-hardware/quick-and-dirty-ram-test-for-cpc
You have to program it as a low rom on an xmem then boot on it, so you need a other CPC to do this.
my plus had dead ram and gave a similar screen:

just do what Bryce says, check/replace ram and chances are the problem will go away
