Just had my X Mem delivered and when set to 6128 & boot to rom I get the normal blue screen but writing is now white and is in higher resolution.

The upper right it says Ram 576k, CRTC1, FW3.15 ENG

It also states Basic 1.1

This is connected to a CPC464

If I flick the middle switch to CPC it shows the normal screen but above the Ready prompt it says Memory Expansion Firmware 3.15 EXP-ROM but still shows 64k at the top of the screen

I tried loading Super Cars and Adams Family but SC says needs 128k once finished loading and Adams finishes loading to a black screen, same as if it is just stock 464

So anyone got any suggestions.

I have tried the Shift & @ TAPE command and says not recognised

run" and load" says already loaded

So I am now officially stumped!!

Bryce

You have Firmware 3.15 installed on the x-mem. A quick read of this page might answer your questions: http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Firmware_3.1
Note the second sentence: "It don't work with BASIC 1.0 and no more support Tape by default"*

Bryce.

*(With grammar corrections: It doesn't work with Basic 1.0 and no longer supports tape by default) :)

Right, so need to send back to Richard and have it flashed with an earlier firmware I take it?

Literally I just want my 464 to run as if a 6128 with tape deck

Eh, I,m no X-Mem expert, but it should be flashable directly from the CPC as far as I know.

I don't have any way of doing that unfortunately, I don't use or have any form of disc drive for the CPC so no way of getting the right firmware on there.

So I think I need to send it back to France and get Richard to put the stock 6128 firmware on it.

Bryce

Oops, maybe one of the users in the UK can do it for you to save some time and money?

Possibly, quite gutted as was wanting to see some of the 6128 extra features on some games like when using a Speccy128!

I will send you a new IC with the FW 3.0.
Please, let me know if you want more ROM flashed on it.  ;)
