The latest saga in my misadventures!
Whoever kindly replaced the drive belt in my 6128 also lost the little write pin. Everything is write protected no matter how many times I beg her to 'retry'. I opened it up, shook the housing, and it's not anywhere to be seen. >:(
I would much rather be in need of a new drive belt than one of these blasted pins. I am guessing there is absolutely nowhere I can get one, apart from another drive. Please tell me I'm wrong! Or at least lie to make me feel better...
Or can I use anything else in it's place?
How about a 3.5" drive?
Yep, this is probably the route I will take (I do have a HxC too, but not planning to use that internally)
I just find the lack of such a small, simple part quite maddening given the drive is otherwise perfect! :o
(Note to anyone with broken drives : please save the pin before you think of throwing it away!)
As a last resort you could always just solde some wires that go to a toggle-switch across the pins of write-pin switch, then you can switch between write enabled/disabled no matter what way the disk is set.

Hey, when I told you my missus had thrown mine away you just suggested going through the trash with a magnet :D
That's cos' I was too busy laughing to think about sensible solutions :D But you could of course do this too.
Bryce.
Nahhhh I've changed drives by now :p

Thank you for posting that, I never knew they existed.
Yeah, I have got a few odds and sods from him. He is a genuine friendly guy actually. Well worth bookmarking at least.
Huh, imagine that!
He's also got some relatively cheap disks - £4.75 for 5 of them...
