Now that would be groovy.

I've got a soft spot for tapes again whilst browsing through the AA tape archive that was kindly uploaded.

Must make a tape port for my 6128 Plus.  8)

That is a cool idea. I'm sure I have an old MP3 player and a tape adapter around here somewhere, might be worth a mod :)

@Bryce, this seems to have everything inside it at a price which makes it uneconomic to build your own, the only disadvantages I can see are the control buttons mean you cannot operate the unit in a '464 because the cassette door is in the way, there is a poor 464PLUS on youtube with a broken off cassette door, it may be a sign of the future where we all break the doors off our tape drives ;D :o .

It would be good if our programs could play MP3 files instead of AY files for music and sound effects, also with an SD card it might be possible to store all our software on SD card and then it could be loaded into the CPC at high speed similar to the HXC floppy emulator.

The price is unbeatable, but it's not the economics that are important to me, I just like making things. I rarely use them afterwards. Regarding the buttons: I'd add a flat cable with the buttons outside the lid :)

The price is beatable if you get it from Hong Kong...

You save a bit on postage.

I'm just thinking, it would be really neat to put some form of switch UNDER the 464 play/ff/rw/stop etc buttons which are wired up to the tape unit itself :)

...but these have been around forever, and have been discussed here before!

Hello,

I have got something like this tape adapter (found here : http://www.pearl.fr/automobile/audio/lecteur-mp3-pour-autoradio-k7_PX8503.html ).

It's totally useless with a CPC 464, as the control buttons are on the K7. So you have to push the play button before to insert it in the datacorder. Another problem, no tape counter, no screen to choose the MP3 of WAV file to play. So, not expensive but not very interesting...

I'll stick to my thomson cassette adapter hooked to my mobile phone

Well, the specifications of another similar one I saw says the adapter recognizes the cassette keys PLAY & FF through the reading head.

EDIT: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/cassette-adapter-mp3-player-for-cars-reads-sd-mmc-10203 It seems it recognizes the tape keys pulsations thought the movement heads.
