Hello,I am new in this forum. I have bought a CPC 6128 a couple of months ago. However, I have used a CPC 464 and a 6128 already in the 80ies - it was my father's home computer.
I use a Gotek drive with the flash floppy firmware as a disk drive emulator. All in all it works very well. However, I have noticed that every now and then files written to the Gotek have an incorrect file extension ".$$$". The file itself is fine, I can just rename it. I have noticed this both in Basic and with game saves (Curse of Rabenstein). The issue is not reproducable, at times the file extension is fine, sometimes it is wrong.

Does anybody have an idea what the reason for this might be ? Does anybody have an idea how to fix this ?
Thank you very much.

I'm not sure what's happening here, but the .$$$ extension is often used by systems for a temporary file being created during a copying process.   The original file name.* will be copied to name.$$$, then upon correct completion of the copy, the original file will be deleted and then name.$$$ will be renamed to name.* as per the original.

Is it possible that something is interfering with the completion of the copy process?

If the disk is full, or near full, this might cause a problem.

Hm, I understand that this is probably a temporary file. However, I am not aware that I have switched off the computer or the Gotek directly after writing to the disk. I still will try taking more care of the Gotek's display showing "W" for write access.
