Hello,

i have a teac 235F-112-U for spare from amiga 500 and i was wondering if it was possible tu use it in a CPC or CPC+?

i have found some information (this thread http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/amstrad-cpc-hardware/microstyle-3-5'-dual-mode-disc-drive/)
and this :http://matthieu.benoit.free.fr/pdf/FD235HFA5XX%20(Rev%20B).pdf
and i found for the pcw...http://www.fvempel.nl/tested.html

i think it's possible but i don't want to do a mistake (during waiting of the repair my cpc floppy drive  ;D ).

Thanks,

Sykobee (Briggsy)

If you want to connect it as drive B just set the jumpers for DS1 and RDY. Then it should immediately work with the CPC. An extra DOS (like VaraDOS or XDDOS) is only needed if you want to use 700 KB formats instead of 178 KB Data format. Of course such a 700 KB format is very cool.  :)

I use it on two of my 6128 Plus's - one in a Rombox, one on a cart.

Yes, that's VaraDOS with deactivated Vortex format. Depends what you like to use for your discs. All the CPC users I know from back the day used Vortex format, but later on I met people using some other big formats too.  :)

When I got my external 3.5 inch drive I also got ROMDOS which was able support 800K disks. Sadly the drive died years and years ago, but I still have the ROMDOS stuff and would like one day to get all of that going again.

ParaDOS / VaraDOS can do that!  :) :) :)
