Hi All,
I have just found a limited, but reliable source for AY-3-8912 sound ICs. So if anyone has a CPC that needs this replaced then let me know and I can organise one (or I can replace it for them if they don't think they are up to it).

Mmmm... one in an acrylic cube... mmmmm!

Bryce

It's rather difficult to solder things that are embedded in acrylic?  ::)

Bryce.

Gryzor

Not really. You could solder wires to its legs, THEN encase it and leave the edges of the wires exposed (can be done). Would be cool actually.

Bryce

I'll find out what it would cost and send you a quote :D

Gryzor

The acrylic encasing would be more expensive for just one piece. But I have my sources, I'll try and get a 'friendly' quote if anyone's interested!

Bryce

That's a serious waste of good, working, hard to find hardware. I'm not sure if encasing them is really the best usage for these ICs.

Still, it'd make for a great paperweight. If you come by a non-functioning one, lemme have it :)

I can give you a few working C64 Graphics ICs, making a paperweight out of one of those would actually be making it more useful :D

Bryce.

Gryzor

Why would I spray shite all over my papers? :D

Bryce

That won't happen, it only turns everything brown when you power it up :D

Bryce.

Gryzor

Still... the idea...
