Can the GX4000 + C4CPC combo be upgraded to 128Kb and PS2 keyboard?

Hello,

Apparently there is someone in the Amstrad community who has managed to convert a GX4000 into a CPC6128Plus.
However, this requires a lot of soldering, and looks quite complex.

I wonder if there is an easier upgrade available for people who have the GX4000 + C4CPC combo?

As the C4CPC is already a good alternative to a cassette or floppy drive, there would be no need for a DDI interface.

The keyboard interface and memory upgrade to 128Kb would be very interesting however!
Did anyone try to do this?

Regards,
Christian

Even without the DDI-1 part, the upgrade would be messy.

Don't do that, those upgrades are awful. In the end, you end up with a mess of cables and visible hardware.

I would suggest instead to invest your time/money on a real Amstrad CPC / Amstrad Plus machine, and consider the GX-4000 as it's was designed for: being a wonderful game console.

On a GX4000 with C4CPC, what's the benefit of a keyboard and 128KB? Are there any ROMS that support more RAM? And since all games for the C4CPC are patched, you also don't need a keyboard. Honestly, when I use the C4CPC with my Plus, I rarely use the keyboard.

Not sure about the keyboard, but 128k will let you run CRTC3  :o

The Cranium did that years ago (or shall I say decades ago). The GX4000 can indeed made into an 6128plus, but it needs excellent solder skills and German precision.  ;) :)

German precision??  :D Like when you have to add 2 steps at the top of an elevator because it's too short?  :D
