Title: DD1 - Interface only. - Does it need power?
Post by: chinnyhill10 on 18:44, 08 February 20
My new old stock DD1 interface turned up today. I'll be using it with an HxC.

However someone on Twitter said a DD1 will not work without the disc drive as it takes power back over the ribbon connector. Is this true? And if so is there a way to get power to it?

Thanks.

Yes, on the 464 the DDI-1 interface is powered via the ribbon cable from the disk drive.
You can link out C116 to power the DDI-1 from the edge connector.

You then need to be careful that 5V is being supplied out of the ribbon cable on some of the pins on the disk drive connector. (33, 31,29 and 21)

Thanks. I did search on here but didn't turn anything up. Looks straightforward. Solder the jumper, doctor the cable connector with a dremmel and then cut the correct cables (which will be the hardest bit I guess). Thanks.
