So I've mashed the connectors on my DDI-1. I now need a screwdriver to remove the connector from the FD-1 socket, or else i need to reattach the ribbon every time.

Any ideas where to get an DDi-1  IDC female connector? The amstrad one appears to be unique in the choice of two protrusions and their placement. Whereas the current standard seems to have a large central protrusion and two notches.

Should I use a standard one and take a knife to it?

Bryce

Is it the connector on the cable or the connector in the FD-1 that needs to be replaced?

Hi Bryce,

It's the A drive female connector on the cable. Fell to pieces as I tried to remove it.

While I have your attention. It looks like I can plug a gotek directly into the B socket as it doesn't carry the 5v lines. Is this true? Or will I blow it up?

Thanks

Bryce

You should be able to use the Gotek in the other connector. As for the broken one, the notches etc are irrelevant, buy a standard connector.

Thanks Bryce. I employed the epoxy whilst I await parts.

Here's a pic of a pair of previously very dirty ddi-1's enjoying some IPA in the late winter sunshine.

Bryce

Sunshine?? I thought you were in the UK? :D
