I was wondering... has anybody done a demo for Joyce/PCW?
When I mean demo I mean like CPC sytle demos with scrollers etc...?

I asked Frank van Empel and he said:

"There have been quite a few demo-programs, some based on GSX and Logo,
but some more PCW-specific ones too. I recall one with a Betty Boop
scroller-sequence, some stuff from DGC Software and the Mandebrot
(fractals) software that was popular in the 80’s..."

So does anybody have this Betty Boop demo? Would be good to get it up on pouet.net.

I know the PCW is not as good as the CPC, but seeing old demos even on other platforms is still cool.

Oh, I've always thought you could do an awesome demo on the PCW. The roller RAM would make for superb splitting-type effects.

Definitely. I've picked up a PCW8256, and if i have time in the future I plan to write a demo. I even thought that the beeper *may* be able to make more than just a beep, I may be able to get some kind of a tune out of it.

I had some fun with the BBC BASIC Interpreter and it's inline assembler, but: No, I didn't.

Sorry,
Mr. AMS

Take a look at some commercial games, music with the Joyce isn't a problem. And when using the roller RAM in a sophisticated way, you definitely CAN do some great effects. However, colors are missing :-(

Question:
Using PCW8256 and pcw8256 system discs. Can the PCW read any cpc formats?
I've been trying with Joyce and it gives errors all the time.
I want to use cpcxfs to put files onto a disk and try something on the pcw.

Initial plan is to boot into cpm and then run a test program.
