Dual floppy in cpc

this is my new project, i made a wooden box  and I put a 5,25 drive and a 3.5 but only one can be powered to work. So i put a switch that change the power supply and this is the result with a small problem.
the problem is that when I conect the ide cable in both drives and i turn  switch  supplies to the 5.25 drive is not possible to read discs like Icpm or large files can read small programs or games !!!
any ideas

nice construction !
i do also have something like this in mind, my ideea was to include also a 8" drive too ( with the 3.5" and 5.25" drives )
