Hi all

I've recently got hold of a CPC 664, which I was very pleased to find hidden away in a huge stash of retro gear someone was selling off.

It basically works and I have fitted a new drive belt, but I'm getting some odd behaviour from the drive. Most of the time when I try to read a disc I get a 'disc missing' error, but every now and again it will read the discs normally for a few minutes. Then it goes back to the 'disc missing' error again, usually on changing the disc.

I've operated it with the covers off, and I can see that when it's working the drive head steps properly but when it isn't there is no sign of movement at all. I can't find any way of reliably making it work, I wondered if it was the LED on the index hole but that looks OK and it makes no difference whether the cover is on or off.

Any advice gratefully received. It's a bit frustrating as it obviously is capable of reading the discs when it wants to

James
