At the moment power led is good, but nothing else so probably ram gone bad.

But it has an usual combination of French keys with qwerty layout. Anyone else encountered such a beast?

I think the problem with those types of forum mods is that they no longer allow the other picture options such as thumbnail etc? But I could be wrong.

RAM is gone for sure. It's a cost down board. Anyone recognise that rom? Looks a bit "custom" to me. Possibly unsoldered.

Currently burning the lower rom RAM test.

Edit: I cannot feel a depression for the window of that rom/eprom. It will be very interesting to get it up and running and find out how the machine behaves.

Also nicely sized cost down board. I knew these were small but I did not realise they were *that* small. Serious room for Internal expansion. I wonder if I could shoehorn a symbiface 2 and ide to sd card reader into the case?

You also have the option to use 2 64kx4 bit instead of the 8x64kx1. It' the 2 empty footprint next to the pre-asci. It may be cheaper

It might have been as I have some 41464 ram here already. Ahh well ordered the original fitted parts now.

Step one done. All old ram removed. No lifted traces. My neatest desolder job ever... I'm getting better at this shit lol!

Hopefully I won't have to send this one to @bryce for an "oops I f*cked up" type repair.

So having taken the 'oh so small' board out today to desolder the ram (I am just gonna replace the lot) I think I have found a solution to internally mount a symbiface 2 (I have 2 of them afterall) but this raises a question....

What is the best option for fitting a ribbon cable inside a cpc case. Strip the ends of the cable and solder onto the centronics mounting points? Fit a centronics connector backwards (pointing into the case) and then use a ribbon cable with every pair of 2 wires twisted? Or something else. Ideally I still want a working expansion port for an m4 board!
