Hi All,

I have just bought a belovid AMSTRAD CPC 464 with a DDI-1 Disk Drive (the first computer I ever owned).
The problem is it never came with a the ribbon to connect the drive to my 464 & no power supply  :'(
If anyone has one spare for or something like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250822935111&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT but it seems allot of money (the machine was only £25). Has anyone got a cheaper solution?

Beaps, welcome to cpcwiki forums!

I am a little confused: You say you have a ddi-1 disc interface, but no cable. So this means you are missing the DDI-1 *disc interface*, the part that connects to the back of the 464 and connects it to the disc drive?

if you're missing the interface, then I am sorry, it's bad news, you can't use the drive without it. So now you need to find this interface.

The drive itself should be long and should contain it's own power supply, so the power supply for the drive itself should be with it. The drive box just contains the drive and power and not the interface.

Now, if your talking about the power for the computer, you can use one of the power supplies in the link you supplied, the power from a GT64/65 (green screen) or CTM644/640 (colour monitor), or a PC power supply (with suitable cable). Having a power supply like this is easy for anyone who is not experienced with soldering and/or can't source the appropiate cables, wires, plugs and sockets.

If you get the power working for the 464 itself, then you can still load software into it. You can use one of them fake cassette tapes, connect it to a pc power supply, and send tape games through the pc's sound card, so it's not all bad news.

Welcome, Beap, to our forum.

You posted as guest here, so I had to approve your posting.
Am I right here, when I can delete your other 2 threads about the ribbon?

Cheers,
Markus
