Pointless if more than one of us is bidding for it, so bid away and send me some pics if you get it. By the way, my statement above is slightly misleading, it's actually the bar that's connected to the motor usually, not the rubber side.

I too will leave it for you Gryzor.

Gryzor, can you confirm that you ARE going to bid for it? Otherwise we are all assuming that someone else is bidding and in the end no-one will :D It ends on Sunday evening, so if you can't bid then, then let me know so that I can.

Bryce.

Gryzor

K, I'll bid for it; if I manage not to be at home then I'll definitely let you know!

TFM

Memory expansion? Do you mean the DDI-1 controller box (containing the FDC)? Or do I miss the point?

The DDI-1 ended at €32.50 - not a bad deal at all!!!

Bryce

I was bidding for the DDI-1 for Awergh, but he didn't want to go that high. I also think that €32.50 is a good price.

@TFM, yes you missed something :D The memory expansion being mentioned is this strange offer: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/64K-Memory-Module-believed-Amstrad-CPC464-/260751827270?pt=UK_VintageComputing_RL&hash=item3cb6052146#ht_500wt_1156

awergh

Maybe I'll bid higher next time I think my thought was not knowing how much just the DDI-1 shipping to me would be maybe.
Oh well I'm sure I can be more prepared next time unless it finishes at 4am or something and then I can't.

I managed to win that  8)   It arrived today.  I've opened it up and you can now tell me what it contains and whether I should plug it in or not.  if you need clearer / larger photos let me know.  The (c) has a 1984 above the G&E wording on bottom right.

Gryzor

Um.. mate, did you miss the part where we were discussing who was going to bid on it? You sniped me at the last moment when you could have had it for much less???

steve

What is the part number on the ram chips?, I can read .....4164. most 4164 ram chips require an 8 bit refresh, but the Z80 can only do 7 bit refresh, your chips might be designed for 7bit refresh but we would have to look at the chips data sheet to know for sure.

If it needs 8 bit refresh it won't work on the CPC.

Yeah, I missed this thread until 'after' I'd purchased / sniped it  :o   I saw it on eBay with 20mins to go, didn't think to check on here first...

The chip numbers are:

HYB4164 P2EE 8345
S7528 N74132 A
74LS157 PC 8346
74LS158N 7932 S

4164 1x65535 (8 required for each byte) still ok for cpc

S758 N74132 A  no idea - sources seem to point to it made by SIGNETI

74LS157 - Quad 2-input multiplexer
74LS158 - Quad 2-input multiplexer

It doesn't seem to have a GAL or PAL on it, so may not be dk'tronics compatible.

Hmmm, first of all the bad news, it doesn't seem to be a CPC expansion. Any chance of a picture of the other side of the PCB? If you want to be 100% sure, Pin 16 of the 74LS157 should be connected to pin 27 of the 50way connector and pin 8 of the 74LS157 should be connected to either Pin 2 or pin 49 of the 50way. If they're not (which they don't seem to be from the picture), then don't connect it! If you can tell me which of the 50way pins ARE connected to pins 16 and 8 of the 157, I might be able to tell you what machine it was made for.

Oh, and just in case it's of interest, an N74132 is a quad 2-input schmitt triggered NAND gate.
And it was probably built in early 1984 :)

I can confirm that it is not for a CPC.  I plugged it into a 464 and a 6128, no response on either - but they did work okay afterwards  ::)

I'm curious what machine it was made for  ::)

Here are photo's of the other side:

Hmmm. I must confess, this is indeed something I never saw in my whole lifetime before.

Check which pin of the 50way goes to pin 16 on the 74LS157, then I can probably tell you what it was built for.
