Hi Everyone,

This weekend I resurrected a 6128 Plus - well, it's now living without a floppy drive - my ordered drive belts haven't arrived yet.  It had a faulty AZERTY keyboard.  I had though a faulty CPC 6128 with uk keyboard and thought, what if i put that in there... and, aside from 3 pointy things on the cpc6128 keyboard that i guess raised it slightly above the membrane - i had to cut those pointy things off - I now have another working 6128 plus with working UK keyboard.  I did try the old CPC6128 membrane also out of curiosity and although it worked but all the keys were wrong - which made me wonder... aside from the printing on the keys, is the difference between an AZERTY keyboard and QUERTY keyboard in the ROM, or do they have different membranes?  If in ROM, then how do games work which bypass the firmware?  That would suck if you couldn't redefine the keys with the typical QAOP combination.  Anyway, for anyone who wants to convert their AZERTY into QUERTY, it seems like a workable option - but the keys are now grey, not white - I'm thinking of painting that 6128plus pink anyway... what do you think?

The membranes are not language specific, the changes are in the Lower ROM (or cartridge in the case of the Plus). However, the membrane connector is at the end of the classic CPC keyboard and in the top centre on a Plus, so how were you connecting them up?

I kept the original membrane and flat metal board that holds the membrane to the keyboard which i was surprised to get the keys right but... i am using a flashed 6128plus cart with parados now so maybe that is why

When i tried the original cpc6128 membrane i had the keyboard sideways with the case open because the cable isnt long enough otherwise

I noticed today when i type list fast on a 6128plus sometimes it inserts a w.  I actually can reproduce it easily and no... i didnt press w.  Oddly my 664 doesnt seem to do it.  At least i cannt reproduce it so easily on the 664. Is that a fault of 6128plusses or maybe my one?

Yes mine is the same, there is a few other combos with fast typing that does this. I think it's called ghost keys, some kind of bug.

The easiest to reproduce is type WER and it adds a T to the end.
