1990 French PD utility for compressing screens - in this example from 17K down to 15K.
This utility, and others like it, would be very useful when the storage capacity of a 3" disc was only 356K in total: this type of program would allow for two (or more) extra screens to be stored on disc or, for example, could be used to compress twenty screens from 340K down to 300K thereby freeing up 40K of disc space for gamecode or text files etc.

I also tested this screen using the screen compression option in the Advanced Art Studio and came up with the same result - 15K.

Another example of compressed screens.

Four French slideshows from the 80's/90's featuring digitized screens.
Each of these twenty-four Mode 1 screens has been compressed so that the files sizes range from 3K to 6K as opposed to the standard 17K in size. ESAT software's "Zenith2" , or a similar program, has been used to compress the files. I have stored each of the four slideshows in different User Areas to avoid confusion - note the DECOMP.BIN file in each of these.

The Slideshows -

User 0 - Sandra Bullock slideshow - 4 screens
User 1 - Pamela Anderson slideshow - 9 screens
User 2 - Ophelie Winter slideshow - 6 screens
User 3 - Naked Pamela Anderson slideshow - 5 screens
