:) Hello at alls guys, i'm returned i had  problems at this time, but now go better,  i write why, i have buy a CPC6128 mod, with a floppy drive 3 1/2 inside, with a swich for use PARADOS, or AMSDOS.

My first step was to take a FLOPPY and use the programm DISKCPCXP, but i have found problems.

The floppy is double face 1.44 mb,
1) start the program diskcpcpxp
2) insert my floppy on my internal floppy drive of my pc desktop (I HAVE XP SP3)
3) pusch the button FORMAT i have tried only side A or side A&B
4) tried to put 40 TRACKS and 80 TRACKS
5) start the formattation.
6) push the left button (from image.dsk to real floppy)
7) Push "OPEN" select my image disk
8) select my floppy drive A:, and i see "LOW LEVEL driver" activated.
9) Push write disk
10) I see activated 40 tracks, "floppy head 1" "write dsk head"
11) When start the process i see "ERROR WRITING DATA TRACK (all numbers tracks)"

What i made of wrong?  :'(
I have tried others floppy but nothing.
The game wich i have tried to copy is GAUNTLET (us gold)
Do not underestimate the power of AMSTRAD CPC.

Cover up the hd hole on the floppy disk. (opposite the write protect tab) with some insulating tape And try again.

To use the other side of the disc your Cpc 3.5 inch drive needs a side switch. Or if you can face using Parados to change sides every time you can use that by selecting the following...

Launch Parados then
Shift cd - configuration/drives

From the pop-up menu you can select either drive as 40 track and side 1 or 2. A software side switch if you like. A pain to toggle, but it works.

The solution with a "hardware" switch is better and is accessible under Amsdos.

abso-fraking-lutely. But not everyone has a side switch.

A hardware switch is fine as long as it doesn't inhibit the usage of 0.7 MB formats. And IMHO 0.7 MB formats should be used with 3.5" or 5.25" anyway, because 40 Track formats just waste half of the 80 Tracks.  :)

And I'm not getting tired of praying to use Vortex format for compatibility reasons.

You need also the right DOS for that. Here is VaraDOS...

I've yet to meet a side switch that does function as double sided when set to side a. However that does not mean they don't exist.
