Hello,

I'm using for years the great ROM Manager (ROMAN) from PNG.

It's easy to use, it does exactly what it's supposed to do, and it only takes 1 ROM. Kudos to PNG, you really nailed it!

My opinion on ROMAN is that the program would be perfect if it would support all the devices.

Right now, to my knowledge it works really well with the FlashGordon from @PulkoMandy but it remains incompatible with the great X-MEM from @TotO . I know these 2 boards gets accessed differently for ROM writing, so it's not a big surprise.

I'm asking the author (@Brueggi if I'm not mistaken) : is there a version somewhere that provides support for the X-MEM?

Thanks & Best regards!

ps. I'm not looking about alternatives here. I know there are the X-MEM Flasher from Chany as also the |BURN RSX (Custom Firmware) + the original X-MEM install disc. They all provide the feature but not the same ergonomy as found in ROMAN.

You can use ROManager 2.4.6 (see www.FutureOS.de download section).
It supports nearly all 'ROM'-Expansions and has a big set of features. Even supports expansion ROMs for CP/M. Have a look at it, you won't regret.

And in case somebody misses a feature, let me know and I'll add it.  :)

BTW, a direct download link is here:

(if it doesn't work please go to the homepage, then downloads, search for 'ROManager').

If I remember correctly, ROMAN 1.0 will work with the X-Mem (compatible with the original MegaFlash from Bryce) and ROMAN 2.0 will work with the FlashGordon and other devices using the same SST flash chip.

They are otherwise identical, so there is no problem with using version 1.0.

MegaFlash and X-MEM do need different programming code. FlashGordon is slightly different too.
Differences are programming of the FlashChip and positioning of ROMs for the unlock sequence.

The source code of ROManager is available. However, it may be more easy to check the wiki pages though.
