Title: DSK to Floppy via M4 board
Post by: francouai on 05:47, 09 April 18
Hi!
I'm wondering how to re-create real 3" floppies from DSK files stored on my M4 board?
Is there a special CPC software to do this ?

If you have more than 128KB ram, you can use the SymbOS dsk-writer utility.

Otherwise there is also this, for standard formats:

I'm memory stock  ;D so only 128ko

your link with the software looks nice, but I have no idea how to compile the assembler code  :-[
If someone can put it already built on a share drive for me?

Here you go: https://www.dropbox.com/s/rlepig79ufbco1n/dsktransfer.dsk?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/rlepig79ufbco1n/dsktransfer.dsk?dl=0)

This is a disk image with the source, compiled binary, and BASIC program. Instructions are simple, run the BASIC program in the same folder as the binary, to load everything you need into memory. Then |cd (I typed "{cd", I'm so used to the CPC keyboard now!) into the DSK file you want to transfer to disk, then "run" - make sure you have the disk in the drive that you want to write to, there are no prompts or warnings, so it will be written over!

You can extract the contents of the disk image I've provided, it's three 1kb files so the DSK is a little overkill, but it's just how I have it to easy access (even as a DSK image, it's 191kb, so it's not like it's massive)

Edited for clarity: Note that this is not my code, it is @HAL 6128 (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=365) 's code from the message mentioned in @Duke (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=1624) 's post. I am planning on making something a little more "user friendly" at some point, but there is no guarantee I will complete that work)

Have I missed something, but the m4 front end rom does this perfectly.

At this time, "m4 front" wasn't available.
I'm using it now.
