QuoteThis is a personal project that enables the navigation and execution of programs and games from a mobile Android device to an Amstrad CPC 464 computer, using an M4 board connected to the computer. The goal is to provide a simple and efficient way to remotely manage and run files, facilitating seamless interaction between the devices.
Collaborations and Credits
The project has benefited from valuable contributions from the community. Specifically, the images used have been generously donated by MiguelSky from the Amstrad.es forum (more than 4600 screenshots included inside the app), adding a unique visual touch that complements the functionality of the project. Furthermore, the credits for the M4 board, as well as the connections and commands used to operate it, go to Duke (author of the repository on GitHub: M4Duke).

Excellent project !

But for my part, it's not something that I will use.
I don't see myself choosing and launching my games from a smartphone. I'm way too old school and prefer to use the keyboard of my CPC 6128...

Concerning the Web interface : the one provided by Duke is more than enough for me (for managing roms, managing files, resetting the M4, or using the "Hack Menu").

But I still applaud this great initiative !  8) ;)

Selecting DSKs using a Cell phone? Nice idea!  :)

I like this!
I find the command line to launch games from the M4 a pain in the head to be honest, but that's probably the way I'm wired.

I used to launch from a phone browser all the time until M4FE was introduced. That's what I use to launch now when I do use my M4.
Currently playing on: 2xCPC464, 1xCPC6128, 1x464Plus, 1x6128Plus, 2xGX4000. M4 board, ZMem 1MB and still forever playing Bruce Lee.
No cheats, snapshots or emulation. I play my games as they're intended to be played. What about you?

No problem about that. At the beginning it was made only to run easily my games but i wanted to share and improve it with the community.

Thank you all, please i want your feedback to improve the app together.

Quote from: frange on 14:24, 21 October 24Hello everyone

I'm working on a personal project about an Android application to navigate and run games from our M4 Board micro SD.
I've already talked with Duke about that and I want to share the project with you for free, of course.

My Github is this one, you can see, download and modify the code as you want.

Please, share your feedback, i'm not a profesional so be kind :D

I bring here Frange's post with the downloads, it took a while for me to find them. Maybe Xeno could copy them to the first message...

@frange I just checked your Android app and I realized some games, if not all, have wrong thumbnails. Cabal, Commando, B.A.T, Rygar are but a few. What's your algorithm here?
M'enfin!

frange

I included almost all the thumbnails from MiguelSky's CPCGamesCd (4600) and it works for me, not all but a lot. It depends of your DSK names.

Regarding the algorithm, I compare the names of the images of the resources with the name of the DSK, separating them by words.

Each time they have the same word, it adds one to a score and saves the resource that has the most words in common (between the resource and the DSK).

Is it happening to all of you?

Very nice @frange
It works well.
The one thing I have initially observed is that I have a couple of directories that start with a #
These do not open, but revert back to the main menu. It does highlight the back button, which you need to press, otherwise nothing else will open.

Cheers,
Shane

The Github link in the first post has the info. You can find it under v1.0.0 release notes...

Here is a copy...

How to install the application:
  • Allow your browser to install APKs by going to Settings > Apps > Menu > Special access > Install unknown apps.
  • Download the APK file and open it through the app you granted permission to. Install it normally.
Alternatively, you can transfer the APK file from your computer over a USB connection.

The new version 1.0.1 Github Frange/Amstrad-M4-Board works perfectly on Android 8.0 devices, (not on 5.0).
Thanks Frange for taking that small change into consideration.
