I know ParaDOS has a file copy bug where, on very rare occasions it will keep reading or writing a file forever (not sure which). Has anyone seen this bug recently and does anyone happen to have an example disc with a set of files on which the bug occurs?

Maniac

I have at least 1 3.5" disc that has this issue which I ended up using XEXOR to copy to an HXC image. Would you like a copy of the image?

Yes please.. How can I convert it back to DSK?

Maniac

I'll have a look and see if I can convert it to DSK format but it's a ROMDOS format disk and when I tried using the Windows HXC conversion tools to do this last time it didn't seem to see the whole disk. If anyone has any ideas how to do this I'd be very grateful.

Maniac

I'm just waiting to access the HXC support forum as the Windows tool seems to have a bug stopping me from converting the hfe file back to DSK. Once I can do this I can provide you with a copy of the image. Apologies but I thought this would be easy!

You may be able to use VFD (Virtual Floppy Drive) to mount the disc image in Windows, then get WinAPE to read the drive directly. If that works, just upload the image as is.

Maniac

I tried VFD this morning and it wouldn't even mount the image as it looks like it expects a DOS image. I've logged my query on the HXC forum so will await a response.

Can you just send me the disk image in whatever format you have.. Perhaps I can just pull the sectors from it somehow.

Maniac

I now have a DSK image I can send you as of yesterday evening. Can I email it to the email address on the WinApe website?

Sure: rich AT bitwise - systems.com, no spaces

Maniac

I've just emailed the file to you. Hope it helps to fix the issue. Let me know if I can help any further.
