I'm on the lookout for serious applications/utilities released over the past couple of years. Anyone got any suggestions - what software is proving useful/fun.

M4 ROM (means to possibility to work with SD card under native CPC firmware)
Orgams
FutureTex
impDraw
ROManager 2.41
The software for USIfAC II (on ROM)

UniDOS which works fantastically as an AMSDOS replacement for those with multiple mass storage devices.

I'd hope that Locomotive Shell becomes cool to use soon, still to fix a bug in there.

You also use Impdos, Impdraw, Orgams.
Impdos is compatible with amsdos and you can use your mass storage (for me at home, I use the X-mass from @TotO ), compatible with the extra RAM card (at home I use the X-mem).
A complet setup to develop and play games. You can use also others cards like M4 for the network usage.

Some UniDOS stuff: http://amsnet.chez.com ;)
... and it looks like you forgot to mention SymbOS recent upgrades!

Prodatron

Thanks @OffseT for mentioning!
Not sure if it is realistic to have "serious" apps for a retro machine beside games and music players.
My contribution to bring a Win9x/WinNT-like system to the CPC with SymbOS is a try in this direction.
But most people just want to have the retro feeling and/or want to play games.
It's fun as well to play music. We had a discussion at the XzentriX 8bit meeting last weekend, if there could be still a use cases for a CPC in real life.

Already mentioned two out of three. But you mentioned one more. Together we remember all of them.  :)

There were some (updated) disc tools too, just don't remember their names.

Oh, in SymbOS there are some real serious applications like e.g. a working Email client (from Edoz).

That reminds me of ASCII-Tools (for CP/M), also great.
And I forgot Caruh, the Multi-Tasking-Manger for FutureOS too (Since I'm busy with another X-ROM for it).
