Title: SymbOS tavern
Post by: m_dr_m on 19:34, 22 April 20
Yahoo group is no more, and I haven't found a dedicated place to post my questions, complains and signs of wonder.

Let me inaugurate with 2 random questions maybe not so random.

* Is it expected that Symbos (3.0) cannot handle AcmeDos partition (FAT16 formatted with CubeMDos tool IRRC)? Files and directories at root are seen. Files can by type-d. But when trying to enter the directory: "Path does not exist". Fails both in SymShell and SymCommander.

* What are the next plans for SymbOs world?

From memory...
1. Symbos supports FAT12, 16 and 32. On sector basis.
2. Saw Prodatron on the Mittwinger meeting, let me try to remember. Guess his main topic is now Symbos and internet. Especially supporting the SF3.
You can open a SymbOS thread and ask the moderators to pin the topic. They did that before for me for FutureOS.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

You can open a SymbOS thread.

Exactly what I did (:

Regarding 1: My bad, that had nothing to do with the format. They were some old directories created with a previous version of CubeMDos allowing lowercase.

Yes, right! Now it would be great if we get it sticky, to have a good home for the topic.  :)

  • mdr006: I managed to get SymShell started at boot (not a mystery). Now how do I force 80x25 fullscreen automatically?
Half there: I selected "Always use 80x25 in fullscreen" & "Use fullscreen" in preferences. Then typed "exit". Then saved the main settings (in menu).
Now it boots in 80x25, and I only have to press COPY-RETURN to switch to fullscreen with proper display speed!
