I might have a spare one but without the original box ....

Could check it out if anyone is interested .... I would love to get CPC HW in exchange instead of money :)

Gryzor

I'd probably be interested, but I don't know if I've got anything to exchange for it...

SkulleateR

Ok, let me put it this way : I´ll have a look for it, also for the battery on PCB and then get back to you, we will find a solution then ...

Gryzor

Cheers, appreciate that. Even if there's a gaping hole in the motherboard I'd still be interested just for the aesthetics/nostalgia!

1.board not present in cpcwiki. (a19)
2.Amstrad uses st eeproms, not amd. But amd manufacture this chip from 88.

3.back solders appear normal from factory?.

4.gp=burning rubber?

Its a bit odd that this is an "Unknown Game", but his other listings show "Dick Tracey" tested as displayed on screen:

Mind you, the Dick Tracey card has silver contacts - was this a normal Amstrad thing or is this cart a modern bootleg?

Bootleg : modern substrate and no machining of the connector edge.

Bryce

The Dick Tracey cartridge is an obvious fake. The contacts are wrong, the case has been opened and the PCB looks like a modern milled PCB, not stamped as they were at the time. As for the "unknown" cartridge, it's probably real, just not working. I know that Amstrad mainly used ST EPROMs, but all manufacturing will have a second source for many parts, so it's not impossible that they could have used AM parts.

If it's original maybe is not made by amstrad? I read back  that in these days amstrad is the only that manufacture the cartridges for the game houses.

But I think they don't made the cartridges in taiwan totally. Most in house.

Take a look at their cartridges. The prints in the eeproms are always made with typical printer dot that amstrad made.. Dot dot dot..

But this is diferent trace continuous.

They use st makes sense big sales down prices z80 eeproms..

Ah, found one in cpcwiki the french download cartridge.

http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Plus_System_Cartridge

Amstrad France?.

Bryce

Yup, identical PCB, AM EPROM: http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/File:2700-023P-1_27C512_PCB_Top.jpg
The visible GP on the ebay EPROM label may be a water mark that has tainted over the years. Maybe there was dot-matrix print on top of it that's faded completely?

Bryce.

dragon

I think maybe there is another posibility. The comercial games use the standard st eeproms+ dot print. And the prototype cartridges (these with white label?.) the am chips buyed in  local electronic shop?.

I'm selling my Multiface 2 on eBay, starting price £4.64

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Original-Multiface-2-for-Amstrad-CPC-464-664-6128-Boxed-with-manuals/224226911170

You're not going to get what it's worth if you limit it to UK buyers.

Bryce.

Skunkfish

Damn, didn't realise I had limited it to UK only! (bit rusty on eBay)
Unfortunately I can't change the shipping options now that there's a bid on it....

Gryzor

Then it may be worth canceling and relisting, though I thought that shipping options can be updated even after bids take place.

I know I'd be interested in one, but already have a boxed unit...

Skunkfish

I'd feel bad cancelling and relisting it when someone's already bid on it.
It looks like I'm going to get at least £26 for it which is better than nothing! (well, after 10% charity donation and eBay selling fees and Paypal charges, who knows?)

Gryzor

Still quite some time to go, I'd be surprised if it sat at that till the end.

Chinnery

From memory, you can white list folk, so they can bid no matter what location they're in.

Gryzor

Is that the cover or an in-game shot? :D

Skunkfish

I had a look at the photo and I don't think I've come across this...
