Yes, I've already chosen the number: 1,000,264 That way I can claim that it was a hidden message about the forth coming Commodore series! I'm sure I'll get at least €10,000 for that. The great thing is, I can even use one of the broken C64s I have, because it doesn't even need to work :)

The brown golden C64 has now gone above €700 ! These people really need to get a life....

... Back in a bit, just off to buy some gold spray paint for my C64 with the missing side-plate....

If they have that sort of disposable income in the current economic climate then they could probably afford to buy a life as well  :D

You could be right, £40 for a few sheets of paper  , is not like he is selling the copyright.

That's just outright sad. I mean, in the close-up it doesn't even look like it's been well sprayed, you can see the original colour through the paint in some spots. Chances of being a fake 99%

Just because I love to alienate myself but are you sure?  :D The only thing that strikes me is the keys look gold as far as I can tell and to my mind they would be the hardest thing to change? Also would they have not have originally taken the standard cases and had them professionally sprayed to keep costs down rather than added the gold colour to the plastic mould, or however they inject the colour into the plastic, considering it was a batch of a few hundred?

If it is genuine it seems to be heading for the right price:

It might actually be genuine, because they seem to all have been badly spray painted. But the keys weren't gold, they were the standard white/grey keys. You can see a very good close up of one here: http://www.heimcomputer.de/pics/c64gold4.jpg

Which makes them very easy to fake. In fact the board it's mounted on would be more difficult to fake than the C64 itself.

It's not that difficult to put the paint in the plastic mix; they refill the tanks (paint, materials) all the time, though they *would* need to wash the machinery. I don't think that'd be that expensive, presumably they wash the machinery at the end of each cycle to keep it clean of goo and stuff.

Spraying them is just lazy. Yuk. A really bad job.

Not sure of the relevance / value in getting one of these over Bryce Hardware Inc. (MegaFlash), but if you feel the need to get the old skool hardware, here's one for sale on ebay:

(I recall someone was trying to buy my Maplin Rombox a while ago.... I won't sell  :-*   but maybe you can purchase this one?!)

I know we have some MSX2 fans here, so I thought I should point them to this. Looks like it's in excellent condition and even includes the shitty upright tapedeck and a few games too: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Philips-NMS-8245-MSX-2-Homecomputer-Zubehor-Privatsammlung-Vintage-/230749435567?pt=Klassische_Computer&hash=item35b9bcf6af

I loved the original MSX computer, I remember the Toshiba man game, you were dropped inside the computer and had to escape, there was also a really weird shoot-em-up I used to play called Bangers and Mash. Great computer!!!

Hi, just wondering if some of the carts this ebayer is selling (Operation Thunderbolt, Klax and Batman) were part of anything such as a demo machine for example, as most seem to have some sort of code printed on the label or are they just fakes (like Navy Seals appears to be in the list)?

This post made me take a close look at the cartridges I have, out of 7 cartridges (excluding burning rubber), 3, I think now are fakes, they have red and white labels, very similar to "real" cartridges, but underneath I can see the smaller labels shown in this auction, I can just about read that label, two of them used to be the Arnold diagnostic cartridges, I think I would have preferred the diagnostic cartridges to the games that they now contain.

The "fakes" do not have the copyright symbol, date or the publisher, and the white part of the label is plain white with the title produced by a dot matrix printer, the originals have some "background graphics" under the title.

The cartridges in the auction may be fakes or they may be genuine cartridges that were recycled.

I have seen real cartridges with dot matrix printed labels just like these.
So they may not be fake.

Yeah, I think they may be ones out of those cartridge demo machine things, which were sold off once it became rather obvious that the demo machines weren't going to sell that many consoles.
