Don't mention it, but can I ask something? Can't you just reup them under slightly different filenames?

I don't know this will work..
I also tried to upload a JPG under a different filename.
Wiki told me that another copy already exist.

There seem to be more problems with image handling...
(I've tried this from 2 computers)

If I load the pages for ACU 1984 issues, or 1985 issues up to April, the pages load, but the images don't. This includes images which were uploaded a long time ago, well before any of the problems with changing host.
I'm pretty certain the other images worked yesterday.

[EDIT] It seems to be a problem on the other pages in the project as well.

Can someone else please confirm that you are getting the same behaviour?

[EDIT 2] And if I click the spot where an image should be appearing, and then click the link to display the image, I get this (for example):

Not Found

The requested URL /images/Acu_april_1985_cover.png was not found on this server.
Apache/2.2.3 (Red Hat) Server at cpcwiki.eu Port 80

It seems that the move to the new server has improved a few things.
First of all, the wiki seems much quicker now, which is excellent.
Second, image upload seems to be working nicely now.

Unfortunately, although I can upload images, I still can't put thumbnail versions into the ACU type-ins project, as thumbnails appear to be broken.

To confirm this, I just had to upload an image, and then link directly to that image.
For example, go here:
http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/File:12.png
The thumbnail column in the File History section doesn't work.

The ACU Type-ins page for April 1985 is eagerly awaiting a fix.  ;)

Devilmarkus

The thumbnails don't work because safe-php limitations.

Maybe it is possible to upload manually made thumbnails and link them to higher resoluted images?

Please check this.

Cheers,
Markus

Hmm, I am a bit lost now... So what is the actual working version of the Wiki? And what about the old changes? Will you do that or do I have to resubmit them?

Gryzor wants to submit all new changes from old wiki to the new one.
But if you want, you can submit your changes, too.

I just mailed again to my webprovider to change safe-php restrictions to normal.
Maybe this helps.
If not:
- Image upload will work :)
- Thumbnails not :(

Yep, looks like it is possible.
Bit of a pain, but bearable.

[EDIT] Woohoo!!! The April 1985 page finally has some new content!!!
Can someone knowledgable in mediawiki coding please check how I've done the code for this section? Is it technically correct?

Woohoo!!!  :)

The thumbnails are working again!
(I just noticed this thread http://cpcwiki.eu/forum/index.php?topic=383.msg3024;topicseen#msg3024).

This has made my day!
Thanks Devilmarkus!

Devilmarkus

And not only that!
I also added a FLV mediaplayer plugin today.
Example is here:
http://cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Digitracker_Video

The code is quite simple. (I will explain it later, it's late now....)

I also worked on an upload module... Hope that I can finish it tomorrow.
It allows to upload files with independent filesize.

I think, I will protect this uploader with htaccess, so all distributing users will get a password to upload large files.
(Will check that tomorrow)

Good night, forum!

That flv player plugin is excellent!
Maybe I'll be able to use it for bits of the type-ins project... we shall see.

ervin

April 1985 is complete.

Gryzor

The article looks great.

Also, great news (I'm surprised Markus didn't mention it: PHP mode was turned off.

The funny thing is, I had just spent three consecutive mornings trying to get it to work and I think I finally did, on my local server, and then everything turned out fine :) So we're problem-free, for now!

ervin

Yes, things are looking really good now.
The extra speed on this new server is sensational too!

Ygdrazil

Yes this new server is amazingly fast!

The forum logo looks great. Nice work.

I've tidied up the pages for the first 5 issues of ACU type-ins (August/September 1984 through to April 1985).
They represent the "look and feel" of how I'd like to make the project look.

What do you all think?

ervin

Gryzor

Still going strong... great job :)

May 85 is here: http://cpcwiki.eu/index.php/ACU_May_1985_-_Type-ins

[EDIT] Ah crap! I think I had typed the Cargo King in!!!

ervin

Good to have you back Gryzor.

Ah yes indeed - the type-ins project has settled into a nice comfortable place now.
I've standardised all the code up to June 1986 (which itself will soon be complete), I've standardised image filenames, etc etc etc.

It's all looking good.
