Hello guys (and gals)!
I just finished implementing social login for the forum! This means that a user can register AND login by using their credentials from Twitter, Facebook and Google.
While this makes it much easier for a user to register to the forum, there's an advantage for existing users as well: if you go to your Profile and click Modify Profile->External Accounts you can link any or all of the your accounts so that next time you want to log onto the forum you'll just have to click on the relevant login button. No passwords to remember, no typing. Simple!
Goes without saying that the only thing the forum sees is your email address and a bit more info if you allow the login/sync procedure, such as your birthday or social network avatar.
Please do test it and let me know if it works ok for you!
Worked like a charm
EDIt : Just one minor thing, login with google+ ask for adding "off-line connection" at every login
Cheers mate :)
Yes, I saw the Offline thing too, and it's on my to-do list!
Excellent, finally I can link ALL my social networks to the CPCWiki, let me see....
Facebook.... Hmmm, no account.
Twitter.... Hmmm, nope not there either.
LinkedIn.... No.
ICQ.... No, not there either.
AIM, no..
MSN.... Nope.
MySpace.... Nah.
YouTube.... Not yet.
Google+.... Nope.
DeviantArt.... No.
Pinterest.... Nope.
Ok, looks like my settings were fine all along :D
Bryce.
You're getting predictable :p
(oh, btw, Google+ =/ Google!)
Oh, nothing, just making a distinction - Google is not a social login, strictly speaking. Nothing more than that.
Google is a search engine, and works fine without having to log in. Their other "data harvesting services" don't interest me. Nor those from other companies.
Bryce.
So Job Done! now to test stuff LOL
 It's asking me to create a new account.

Only if the your social account uses a different email address from the one you're registered with...
@Bryce (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=225) : a little secret: Google is getting into the retro business - their new business model will be selling GXs at £200 a pop on ebay, so they're paying off retro webmasters for data... I'm making a killing here! :D

Indeed.
Yahoo were hopeless when I wanted to send out emails, so I signed up to Hotmail. Usually when ones down the other ones up and running Normally.

Wow, what a flashback, so was I. Did you have the "3D gnasher badge" with the "dog hair"? Later (when my brother joined) they had moved to a boring metal printed button badge.

Yes one just like the picture with the hair and the googly eyes. I also had the wallet and the badge. :)
Are you both going to tell me, then you have wear this hairy thing, along the streets, on the job... :o
Well I was about 7 years old at the time. And it looked a lot cooler than those loosers who joined the Desperate Dan Club over on The Dandy :D
Bryce.
What would be nice is a login via your LinkedIn account, so then it could boost random visitor traffic. :) Although I'm already a member of the 8-bit Retro Group on there, and that hasn't sparked any attention on my page. :D (Which is just stupid anyway).
Linkedin has become a spammers lair.

Yes, I've noticed my Spam Folder in Yahoo has been building up from something, but my Junk Folder in Hotmail, which I use to access LinkedIn hasn't been getting any Spam, but I'm only using it to feed useless information or some Amstrad Artwork and perhaps a work or two on some Programming Language.
( @remax (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=314) ) I think the offline request from Google is fixed now :)
