Stupid forum doesn't allow me to post ftp links.
It always puts http:// on the front.

Grrrr ;)

but it is really nice that http:// automatically works, so why can't ftp://?

That's a good question.

And the answer is... "that's a good question" :D I guess it's an oversight. I'm heading over to the devs to suggest it...

AMSDOS

ftp://ftp.test.uk

Seems to be working fine now!  :-[  I just clicked on the Hyperlinks and selected the ftp protocal from the list!  :-[

But no, that was not the problem. The problem is with the auto-conversion, not choosing protocols and all...

Anyway, it's been flagged as a bug in SMF, looking forward to a solution.

Hmmm, not quite sure what you mean, I just typed in:

ftp.lip6.fr

which returned the correct Protocol. Maybe my computer reckonises it?  :-X

Erm.... weird???

ftp.test.com

ftp://ftp.test.com

Ok, both of the above failed in quick reply. Next post will be in the full editor.

...you're kidding me, right? What exactly did you do?

PS Irrelevant, but: the post you reported a few days ago - I didn't ignore it, have been looking into it...

ftp.test.com

Didn't do anything except type in: ftp.test.com !! Maybe my dodgy web browser has something to do with it!  :-[

Yeah that was a weird one that post! Should Guests be allowed posting privileges? True in order to post someone must enter the unique code and answer a question.

Not sure maybe the full editor has something to do with it, I have it come up by default when I replying.

This is what happens when I do a quick reply:

ftp://ftp.test.com

Still seems to work for me in that only I have to put the Protocol at the beginning.  :-[

I'm using what everyone regards as the worst Web Browser going around and is usually on every computer sold - IE. I'm using Vers 8 which I guess could be regarded as the new Vers 3! Only cause it's okay on my machine, it seems to be the Adobe crap which embeds itself into it which is a nuisance!

I don't get why this would be browser-specific... and for some reason IE won't run on my netbook (??!). Anyone else can confirm that it works fine with IE?

andycadley

ftp://ftp.example.com

Well, works here (IE8 on Windows 7)

andycadley

http://ftp://ftp.example.com

However it clearly doesn't work properly in Firefox 4.  :( So yes, looks like a browser specific issue.

This is really screwed-up :D
