Login nuisance

Since a week or so, I've noticed that although I always enter with the "Always stay logged in" checked, when I come back to the forum and click on any topic, suddenly I'm not logged in anymore and have to login again.

This happens at work, at home, with my iPhone, with Safari, with Chrome...

It's not something that is gonna kill me, but is quite weird.

Bryce

I noticed that too, but even more annoying is that when I log in using Windows 7, my first password is always incorrect. I thought maybe I really did type it in wrong, but then I saved it in a text file and copied it into the field and it still claims it's incorrect, copying the same password in a second time then logged me in?

Bryce.

robcfg

Yeah, that happens to me too using WinXP, and don't remember if Linux suffered also from this.

The funny thing is that it all started a week ago, has the forum been updated or something along that line?

Bryce

That's a question for Gryzor. I suspect it's the lesser-known 2011 (Millenium +11) Bug :)

Login problem has always been there and happens to me too.

Doesn't seem to happen as much if you use the login at the top of the page rather than the one in the nav menu.

Bryce

The password problem has been there as long as I can remember (although my usual memory retention limit is about 4 weeks :D ) The automatic logout problem only started over the Christmas period.

So I wasn't in a pure halucination ? I am not the only one to notice this ? ???

Is it the 2011's bug ?

Gryzor

Hello guys,

The password problem has been there for a while indeed - for some reason the homepage form seems to be malfunctioning. I think this is due to all the manual hacks and mods that have been applied over the ages. But since when the final version of the forum software is released I'll install from scratch, I won't bother trying to fix it...

Far as finding yourselves logged out, this is weird - I returned to the forum both from work and home after ten days or so and my sessions were still alive... I'll try to note it down and maybe hunt it down...

Thanks for reporting!

Xyphoe

Yea I had this issue a lot over the last week or two, but it seemed to stop and behave itself in the last few days.

Gryzor

Maybe something was wrong with the Internet...

redbox

Still happening for me (XP and Windows 7, Firefox on both).

Gryzor

Your internet has problems.

MiguelSky

It stopped for me but now it's starting again...

Since few days I've that problem nearly every time I log in. Looks like it happens if you use different PCs to log in. Maybe some coockies go wild?

I agree, its getting annoying.

IRONICALLY for the first time, it's kept me logged in on this PC for once! Strange.

I usually leave my home computer connected all the time and I log also at work at the same time. When I come back I'm still logged in already at the home computer. And that could be for an entire week.

At home ... your working PC is out, when you're at home.... ? However, this problem cummulates now... and remembering my password futureos is so hard ;)

I mean I don't get disconnected for staying logged in in 2 different computers at the same time :D

I don't think it's supposed to kick you out if you log in from another IP - it's not Google or Paypal or anything!

Sorry for this, guys, I've tried a bit to pin it down but it seems it's going deep and as I've said I'm waiting for the final release of the forum software...

Login should work proper now...
I changed some settings.
If not, please let me know.

MiguelSky

Working for me too, thanks Markus  :)

Login works, but 'stay forever' doesn't work im my case. Maybe it's an explorer problem.
