Hi Gryzor

Sorry to inform you that there is a new kind of uploading problems on CPCWIKI!

I have attached a screen shot of the error i get when trying to upload a simple jpg file.

Sometime it work and sometime it doesnt..

Regards,
Ygdrazil

Gryzor

Ah crap. When did you encounter this? This happens because of the configuration on the server - PHP is installed with a safety option on which makes lots of scripts non-functional, but this hadn't appeared before!

I just tried uploading, had no problem; could you copy/paste the error text on top of the page?

Cheers
Gryzor

Hi Gryzor

Really wierd!

Encountered same problem again, only some .jpg files fail! And the error seems not to occur every time!

Darn.. can't replicate it, and I don't get why it happens. I'll try upgrading to 1.7 which is supposed to work fine with PHP 5.0.x and see what happens...

Hi Gryzor

Am I the only one having problems with the wiki?

I have just read your post on comp.sys.amstrad.8bit!

But it seems there are now even more problems with the wiki.

1. loots of warnings.
2. No pictures working!

This makes me wondering if I am the only one that is experiencing problems on the WIKI? :-(
Can other please confirm!

Regards,
Ygdrazil

Gryzor

Well, can you be more specific? what exactly are you trying to do? When did you get these errors? Seems to work fine with me... :(

Gryzor

Ohhh darn the images thing is new!! ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH lemme check... It worked fine a couple of hours ago!!!

Gryzor

Found something; see here: http://cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Image:Animation03.gif . If you check its location (sorry about the off-topic, but I'm sure noone will complain! ;) ) it's located in the root Images folder instead of a subfolder. For some reason a script turned some screw loose and tries to find all images at the root Images folder. Have no idea why. So I'm downloading all images and will be reuploading to the /images folder :(

You can't imagine how many hours I've spent correcting such small issues during the weekend...

Cheers

HI Gryzor

I really feel sorry for you. I know from my own experience how frustrating it can be to maintain a wiki!  :P

Is it necessary to upload all the pictures to the "root" dir? Cant you simply just change the directory where the wiki searches for pictures in the LocalSettings.php. I suspect the current problems is a overwritten config file problem!

I hope the the very best, good luck!

Regards,
Ygdrazil

Gryzor

Fixed! Damnit... When you wrote this I had started reuploading the whole of Mediawiki structure, having decided that downloading all the images would take all my night. Seems it's working now... btw, it wasn't LocalSettings.php - that's the first thing I ever look at :)

It's not only the wiki that I have to maintain now, the gallery and the forum have their own quirks, and I do think it was the gallery that somehow screwed things up. So I now have to check whether the gallery works ohkay!!!

Thanks nevertheless!

Hi folks!

I've been taking a look to the new gallery. Do I have to upload the images again? (I mean, it's no big deal) And is the howto upload pictures section updated for the new gallery format?

Don't get stressed, Gryzor, I think everybody knows how difficult is to maintain a site and we are more than happy with you excellent work  ;D

Gryzor

Hello mate, thanks for signing up!

Unfortunately yes, we'll have to reupload everything, and not the how-to does not apply to the new Gallery. The reason for both is that it's an entirely different program, but much more versatile and much easier to use, as you can see - just choose your file enter a description and Bob is your uncle :)

I do hope this becomes a big CPC-related photo repository!

I just noticed that in the main page, in the corner where the CPCWiki logo should be, there is an image with the following message:
QuoteSet $wgLogo to the URL path to your own logo image.

Just in case it isn't fixed yet. Anyway, it's not a critical feature  ;D

Edit: I can't see you 664 pictures, they lead me to a blank page or the same album page.

Gryzor

Concerning the logo - I couldn't be bothered, after all the fixing :) Now it's ok.

Concerning the first images - will have to reupload, due to changes and experiments with the db they got lost. They were mostly test images anyway!

Cheers

Hi Gryzor

Sorry to be the one that brings you the bad news!!!!!

Another error while uploading files... again simple jpg files.. used to be able to upload without any problems!

Gryzor

Argh again... I guess it doesn't happen every time, does it? Have you managed to upload by retrying?

Ygdrazil

Hi Gryzor

The error appears periodically!

This afternoon the error appears again...

Again.. this time the error comes quite frequent, so its almost impossible to upload anything in reasonable time!

Gryzor

Well... just uploaded 4 pics in a row, no problem in either one of them!!! I wonder how come; I gave you sysop privileges, can you try uploading and see if it persists? Although I doubt it makes any difference, it's worth trying...

Ygdrazil

Hi Gryzor

Interesting, I will try to re upload the files that keep failing.. but I think you're right in the assumption that the problem is not related to my user status!

Actually I am visting CPCLER at his home, we are zipping some x-mas beer and playing around with his ancient CPC464, playing some Amsoft titles (the mighty Galactic Plague) directly of the tape - wahhhhuuuuuuuu, pure retro;I completely lost the feeling of loading software directly from tapes..

CPCLER has completed some more scanned material, which I will help him upload later today!

You might actually call this a mini Scandinavian CPC Meeting - and the first one ever!
