Finally figured it out, and even added a better solution.

You won't find the new option under the "Upload File" link any more; instead, try editing a page and notice the upload zone at the top of the edit window, as well as the new icon at the far right of the toolbar.

Features:

  • easy uploads for one or multiple files simultaneously
  • file upload directly in the editor
  • upload via drag'n'drop is supported (if Html5)
  • embedd the file into the editor as link
  • change the name of the file
I like it. Please test it! And comment... :)

Bryce

Do you need to save your edits before uploading something? Or does it return to the edit screen with unsaved content intact after uploading?

Bryce.

Good question! Basically it works just like the uploader in the wiki. Meaning, you don't leave the page - you drag'n'drop the file or use the file chooser, then click "upload this file" and it's uploaded while your edit box is still active. You are then presented with the option to insert a link into your article, or the file itself (meaning, it shows the image if it's an image, a sound player if it's a sound file[nb]I don't actually remember if we have a sound player, but you get the idea[/nb] etc). Neat

So, I see Axelay put the new upload system to good use!

Did it work ok mate? How many files did you upload at once?

Axelay

Yup, no problems.  I just dragged 63 files on to that bar and clicked the upload button that appeared at the bottom.

Easily more convenient than the old way too, so thanks for implementing that.  :)

Gryzor

Seriously? It coped with 63 files? wow.To tell you the truth I didn't think anyone would (ab)use it that way, but good to know :) Thanks for the update!

Bryce

Hmmmm, 63 files, but what if it's a 16bit process, then 64 would be the limit. I won't be impressed unless it can do 65 files! :D

Go on then, we'll be waiting for the results :D

The next CWTA issue I have is about 80 pages, so I guess I'll find out then, but I wont have a chance to do that until later in January.  If it is a '16bit process', should I be expecting something like a Guru Meditation Error?  :D

Gryzor

@Border_7: this actually HASN'T been here all your life. It was installed a few days ago :D
@Axelay: oh boy, I opened the floodgates of hell it seems... but, you'll probably get a nice white page if something goes wrong since I've disabled php debugging :D

a nice white page reminds me of snow in winter.
