Wrong Email addresses

Hello!

Lately I've seen a flurry of failed email notifications taking place. This happens because some of you have given fake or erroneous email addresses. So, when someone sends you a PM, the system sends out an email to you, the recipient, which bounces back.

This is bad not because of the server load, but because the member who has sent a PM to you thinks you have been notified - when, in fact, you have no idea unless you visit the forum.

So please, please, do check your email addresses and input the correct ones*!

Cheers
Gryzor

*Otherwise the email marketing service I sell the db to pays me less

Bryce

My address is correct and may I thank your advertising partners personally for the irresistable - once in a lifetime offer that they were kind enough to send me several times a day for the last six weeks, however, I am currently happy with the size of all of my body parts and have no requirement for the clinically tested wonder pills they seem to think I would be interested in :D

Bryce.

Gryzor

Well, yes, ok about size, but how about duration? Hmmmmm?

Bryce

Duration, not a problem, I can type for hours before I get a cramp (even on my CPC).... They were talking about fingers, right????

Bryce.

Gryzor

Well, yes, some do use their fingers.

I think the addresses are ok.
But the mailserver does not allow all ISP!
So often mails from yahouch or mothail are not sent and you get error report.

Not sure if the addresses are ok (can check), some of the error messages clearly say that the recipient does not exist... But which mail server do you mean? Ours?

Devilmarkus

No, Bill Gate's

Yes, of course ours.

Well, I was asking because it's a bit strange. If it means that outgoing mail is not possible then it doesn't make any sense, unless it means that our server is blacklisted. In which case, we should probably do something.

If incoming mail is not allowed from these servers then we must find out what these servers are, because it doesn't make any sens to have hotmail of yahoo blocked.

As an example, we have a user who resides at elbinsel.de . The final message from our server is:
QuoteSorry, I wasn't able to establish an SMTP connection. (#4.4.1) I'm not going to try again; this message has been in the queue too long.

Does this mean that elbinsel.de has blacklisted us??

I think you did not get it yet ;)

Not our server is blacklisted but the user's email is not reachable from our server (Because his mail is probably blacklisted on our server)

Just use http://www.elbinsel.de in your browser and you will see that elbinsel.de for sale on Sedo. This means, it simply doesn't exists anymore.
