Title: Wiki Dead-End Pages
Post by: robbarton on 11:51, 19 July 20
Hi All,
I noticed the special pages section which helpfully lists dead-end pages and am going to explore tidying them up in between doing CWTA type ins uploads.

@Gryzor (https://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=1): I found this page  http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/ACU_August/September_1984 (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/ACU_August/September_1984)   which looks like a duplication of this page with more info: http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/ACU_Issue_01_(Aug/Sep_1984) (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/ACU_Issue_01_(Aug/Sep_1984))   so I suggest taking the photo from #1 and adding to #2 then deleting page #.

Similarly for the weird categories issue (some pages have the categories code in the page but they don't display): I noticed there is a page of AA Type Ins here: http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Category:Amstrad_Action_Type-Ins (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Category:Amstrad_Action_Type-Ins)  which have categories in the page but are dead end since they don't seem to link to the AA type ins main page.

These are all ones that existed before I started editing AA Type Ins. Perhaps there was some change to the wiki "code" before 2016 which was when I started that? I see last modified January 2015 against some of these.

On the one hand I'm tempted to wikifiddle these AA Type Ins pages to the same format as the Type Ins pages I did, but then I'll lose the category...  all thoughts and suggestions welcome as to how best to tidy up the wiki.

In case this is of any use, I found a page describing problems where the page has Category defined at the bottom of the page but it's not showing:

https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Topic:Ta3n8f4l49wuqe9s (https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Topic:Ta3n8f4l49wuqe9s)

It mentions something about running particular jobs to update the wiki i.e. seems to not be an automatic process unlike the basic links.

I found little coding typo's on some of those AA Type-Ins pages, for instance the Feb '87 issue, a gallery was opened, but the closing </gallery> was <gallery> instead and on Nov. '87, that had /gallery> instead of </gallery>, otherwise they all had been catagorised, but because of the errors, they weren't on display.

There are several dead-end pages which look to be malformed duplicates of the Australian CWTA issues, which already have correct pages:
Links from this page http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Computing_With_The_Amstrad_-_Australian_Edition (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Computing_With_The_Amstrad_-_Australian_Edition)  all lead to correct versions of the above pages, so I think those 10 can be deleted.

OK this should hopefully be my last spam message about the wiki today!  :D

I looked at some Personal Computer News pages - these were last modified in 2013 but had no categories on the bottom of the pages. I tried creating basic categories as follows:

[[Category:Magazines]][[Category:CPC_Press]][[Category:Personal_Computer_News]]

And this appears to work (albeit Personal_Computer_News isn't recognised as a category, so I need to work out how to join that to the main page or remove that category). It seems that pages created before 2016 can be edited to add categories, but pages created as new from 2016 onwards won't allow the categories to be visible even if they are correctly formed.

The PCN issues are linked from here   http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Personal_Computer_News (http://www.cpcwiki.eu/index.php/Personal_Computer_News)
