Nice new cat with a resolute gaze, indeed.

And the original one is... hmm. Looks like a title screen from 1984 and not from 1987.
A little bit pity for that game. I mean the rest (sprites and backgrounds of the game itself) is not so bad... . The screen had to be drawn by an intern?

I really like TITAN's style for these loading screens. And the more it goes, the more qualitative they are.

I have a great admiration for the outstanding work done by TITAN -- truly exceptional pixel art.

Personally, I have a strong preference for preserving the original screens in games. While I recognize that they are visually less advanced, they hold a nostalgic value for me, as they reflect how the games were originally experienced.

Of course, this is just my personal opinion, and I fully understand and respect that many players might prefer the new screens, which undeniably bring a fresh and vibrant touch to the games.  ;)

My current project is Sonic GX, a remake of Sonic the Hedgehog for the awesome Amstrad GX-4000 game console!

Egg Master

Yes, I prefer to have the original screens too. I don't think the goal is to replace them, but a tribute?

ZorrO

This is Good Cat, not bad.

Some pictures are so pretty that it's not worth starting the game after looking at them.

Oh, don't get me wrong. For nostalgic reason I feel the same. This is how I also experienced the past of the CPC which is also reflected especially by title screens. 38 years ago, I have never thought about it of a bad image.

Of course, you definitely didn't have the tools in the past as you have it today drawing such an image (e.g. crafting it on a PC). Bad Cat was published by Rainbow Arts distributing the game also for the C64 and Amiga. And for those versions the title screen was much better (more grey shades available but a compromise for the CPC could be done better). I assume the title screen itself has been done in a rushed way (maybe also subcontracted): it is similar to the C64 screen but just a colour replacement. It could be done better, even in the past.

Smoother. Sometimes dithering is not always necessary, is it (style of TITAN).

Too bad they didn't escape the explosion...

Definitely an improvement, digitalised-like images look ugly. The only bit I prefer from the original is the Buoy, it gives more feeling of wild sea, the new seems to be floating in the air. About the explosion, I like both versions.

ZorrO

In first version of explosion there is man.

Not one but two. You may have missed @Anthony Flack's witty sarcarsm: https://www.cpcwiki.eu/forum/demos/awesome-pictures-for-cpc/msg249173/#msg249173

Yeah, nasty navy soldier. Would be cool to have small smile in his face on the second image.
