I have never watched this Demo on my Plus or any other real hardware for that matter! I just converted the DSK to HFE and tried to load via my HxC on my 464 Plus and all DSK images wont even CAT! "I just get the dreaded Drive A Read Fail" message! All other images work including Orion Prime, which I believe uses the same type of format? Is there something special I need to do with these DSK files? Thanks for any suggestions  :)

UPDATE...

Well Batman Forever is merrily whizzing away on my 464 Plus as I type! The problem? Well I tested a couple of FDC ICs a few months back using my Plus machine, all seemed just dandy so I left one of the new ICs in the machine and went about my business as normal, all images were loading just fine until I attempted to load BMFE via the HxC and had nothing but read errors. I decided to swap the original FDC IC back in and BMFE loaded right up no problem so after enjoying it on the real hardware for the first time I put the other FDC back in and tried again and voila it worked!? I guess I didn't have it properly seated in the socket, weird though how Orion Prime et al all worked no probs!?? Well I guess this could be a potential cure for some people experiencing read errors in the future if conventional solutions don't work it might be worth checking all is good with the FDC chip! This demo is mind bendingly impressive on the real thing so happy I got to see it outside of an emulator for a change! ;D

Use the "Batman Forever (One disk version).dsk"  file.
The others images are malformed/corrupted (bad tracks numbers as far i remember...)

Thanks Jeff+HxC2001, but I've tried that version too  ???  It just starts to read the image then I get the read fail message any chance you could post the image you have? Thanks.

your hxc drive is the "a" drive ?

Badstarr

It is the A drive yes. Ive tried the image on the Arnold emulator on Mac OsX but it just says "wrong disc for your configuration " I might try download a newer version of the HxC software and build the HFE image again assuming im not already using the latest version !?

too short, didn't even read past the mention to "464PLUS"...

well, the 464 is not "done" to support "Floppy disk drives"...

you must first complete the motherboard with the appropriate electronic chips... like a floppy disk controller...

then perhaps you may get it to use the HxC properly.

Also, Batman demo is "6128"... it mean you must have a proper "FDC equipped" Amstrad... (664, 464 with proper external disk drive, any 6128 (old or plus))...
But also 128K RAM !

BTW,n it's good for you to have this rare 464plus, but be sure it is perhaps one of the worst Amstrad you could find in order to actually use it.

Try to get a 6128 (PLUS or OLD)... always better, or then find the proper chips to upgrade all the missing parts on the motherboard (the empty chip slots...).

post edit : haha, sorry, do you really have a floppu disk controller and extra RAM already ?

As I told, unless you find the exact missing "6128Plus" chips to put on the motherboard, your 464PLUS is only good to be a piece of collection or to read GX4000 cartridges.
and perhaps a few old CPC464 original tape games that are known to have no compatibilities issues (like keyboard scan)
