I'd like to do a little interview of my friend called "Tastefulmrship":
1/ Can you remember us how many meeting did you go? (because I personally met all the demoscene in France and Germany since 15 years, but it seems that you have a better knowledge of the "spirit" of the scene than me, so I would like to take a lesson)
2/ Is it forbidden to dislike a demo and to say it? (PnP news, and I can explain why) What I often read is, on my opinion, bad taste, hypocrisy, or come from a "non demomaker spirit".
3/ Do you know that Amstrad CPC scene is not born in March 2011 with Batman Forever?

Concerning AST message about Longshot: everybody know that Longshot level is not very high today (conclusions based on his discussion with Grimmy about RVMB, me about AY crunching, Rhino about rotozoom and scrollzoom effect, etc. If you are contesting this point, I'm ready to heard your own opinion about all these points), but he don't claim anything so there is no problems with that. Of course, it's a crime to say that "Longshot level is not very high today" for nostalgic people, but it's obvious for every actual CPC demomaker. Why AST wrote this? Ok, it's provocation, and I've no problem with provocations. But it's funny to be so arrogant in a demo full of outdated effects and to release 6 years after DTC on a better machine a mush worse demo. If you want to cheat us, start by doing better demos

He wasn't being that aggressive, he was just giving a "foreigner" point of view... from a non french guy, you know ?


Being from Ireland i guess he has an excuse for not attending to all the Demo parties in France und Deutchland... but he clearly knows about some Demoscene, perhaps he was more into the 16bit ones though...


But hey, I should take care of myself and mind my own bizness, he is big enough to reply himself.




The competition spirit is still here, but the "Fucks" culture have been dropped down a lot in many other Demoscenes.
Bacause there is no more Atari Clan Vs Amiga clan... just a bunch of retro computers "otakus" actually sharing the same hobby, despite with different systems.


It is fun to see the "fuck" culture still exist strong in the French Amstrad Demoscene.
Not a big deal but non-Frenchs may not be aware of the compelx "personnal grudges and alliances matrix" of the French scene.


But you should understand that some peoples from other countries may not understand the reasons for this or even think of it as somewhat immature.


They perhaps candidly believe we are all a united Amstrad Family in a brightly coloured mode0 world...
Obviously not everywhere.

But he only speak about 2 texts by AST and me. So, one more question to Tastefulmrship: do you think that Rhino "act like children", "disrespect" me and launch a "war" by writing harsh texts towards Vanity in BF? Of course not. He just follow the traditional demomaker spirit (and there is absolutely no link with fuckings).

Yes, ofcourse. We wouldn't want to "know", thanks for the advice. Actually we shouldn't even have to wonder what this is all about. So why do you keep this up? Ok, during the 90s, the quarells between the german scene and the french scene and the british scene could actually be considered kind of entertaining (for me at least, it was). But back then we only had a handful of diskmags or any other disk-spread-by-snail-mail media so there was actually very little communication. But now there's a couple of sites, forums, message boards... And a lot of space for us 50 people(?) to fit in and be happy about it.


So, again, why? Scene-demoish-trashing ("motivational") is one thing, keeping an everlasting dispute is another.

Obviously they were posted by Hermol, I guess it is emulator because it is quite difficult to take proper video from a real Amstrad.

Is this part supposed to show the image being built up, pixel by pixel? The video just shows a bunch of lines and then an image suddently appears out of nowhere. Can someone please do a real-hardware video if this is the case?

Effect is the same on real HW.
