Well, I'll put this thread to demos, since we've no thread for disc mags. And some disc mags are a bit like a demo.

However, the question is serious: In which languages would you like to read a disc mag?

Well, off course I would prefer german.
On the other hand... to be honest,  I've no time to read it anyway. So english would be fine. In case, we talk about
CPC/Amstrad related stuff... no idea, how many 'german only' readers out there/ wether its worth it or not.

Oh, sorry, I wasn't clear. The poll allows up to three (3) selections. So you can vote for German and English.

Of general interest: In which languages do you prefer your software anyway.

Thought three languages for a single person should be enough. For example @Bryce would probably pick English, French and German.

But other CPC countries shall not be forgotten.  :) :) :)

And you can change your up to three selected languages of course.

Btw: I guess Chinese will only work with a 4 MB RAM expansion. Or is there a kind of 'short cut' to work with lesser signs?

On the MSX they have ROMs for displaying japanese Kanji chars, which are based on the chinese ones.
There is a 128K rom for storing 3000 chars (JIS1),
and a 256K rom for storing more than 4000 chars (JIS1+2; e.g. included in the MSX TurboR).

https://www.msx.org/wiki/Kanji-ROM

I thought they are stored as 16x16 pixel chars. But I was also reading about 12x12.
Today 16x16 is the absolute minimum, but when you even talk about 32x32 and 4000 chars, it would "only" require 512K, not 4MB.

So, it could work on CPC too... Thanks for the information!  :) :) :)

Greek - however - seems to be more 'easy' to be implemented.

We got already 2 votes for Greek, so it's of considerable interest.

Glad to see, that the 'Netherlands' got a vote too.

Don't forget you can select up to 3 languages.
Please vote!  :) :) :)

There was a discussion some time ago about implementing greek chars. Pretty easy to do, back in the day there were many many listings defining the characters...

Sure, that's the easy part. But the other thing is where to put them on the keys. However, expect advancements here too. Just ... there are a few different "versions" of "which character on which key, at which layer".  :)

In genearal: THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH for your contribution and election in the poll. This will help us all a lot for future releases.  :)

Meanwhile I did pick five languages for FV-V: Dutch, English, French, German and Spanish.

See there:

For future issues this poll will help to consider more / less / different languages. So please, you can still vote (up to three selections).  :)

Very easy to resolve, it's been standard for decades now, we can help🙂

If you have a layout for the CPC6128 keyboard, please point me there.  :)

GUNHED

Thanks, of course I saved that one. But may you can give me some additional informations.

On your computer, is there something like a Greek only keyboard. Or does it always have the letters we use here and Greek in addition?

It's the same keyboard, you just switch languages with a key modifier. You can try adding Greek to your computer and check it out, actually😁

GUNHED

Well, I wonder that Italian is missing. Just saw an video of 'The key' with italian language.

And since all other languages got at least one vote, please let me know if some languages are missing.
