Is there a possibility to fix the CAT-art for CPC 464 rom's, too?

How does the 464 ROM differ from 6128?
I never used my DDI-1 on a 464 so I don't know, it was always my 2nd drive on the 6128.

EDIT: Oooops, it's fecked, alright!

EDIT2: I've just checked MIDLINE PROCESS & BLOC-US on 464 ROM and their CATart is also messed-up. I'll try and look into it, but it might not be fixable! (At least, not by me!)

EDIT3: The only CATart I can find that works on BASIC 1.0 is ULTIMATE FACEHUGGER MEGADEMO and that's |CPM!

EDIT4: Even ORION PRIME's superb CATart fails... can someone check if this happens on real hardware or is it another emulator glitch?

EDIT5: CATart is MODE specific as well! MODE 1 displays the CATalogue in 2 columns, MODE 2 in 4, MODE 0 in 1! This effects the order in which the files are displayed, and so potentially messing up the art entirely! I can see why this is a dying artform!

EDIT6: From Les Sucres en Morceaux website;

464 VS 6128

Holy fecking hell! Awesome!
Are you going to add the |CAT and |NYAN commands that redbox and McKlain suggested, too?

All we need now is the CPC+ version and I think we're there!
Way too much meme for my sandwich!

Well I'll try.... Made the rom with Softbrenner, dunno if its possible to add more commands... Perhaps |CAT and thats it... it always asks for a binary when I add a RSX command...

Btw: Compared to the original demo:
Do you think its possible to produce the "nyan" sample with digidrums?
THIS would be really awesome!

I think that there is no way to modify the pitch of the digidrums just using arkos (I'm not sure). To use the nyan sample we should need to use digitrakker or something like that. Remember that in normal CPCs that takes quite some cpu resources.

Better said, in arkos you can only trigger the digisamples, you can't indicate any sort of volume, lenght or anything else.

I believe this CATart will work on CPC464 & CPC6128. However, it looks slightly different and I have had to capture the 'Ready' prompt in a WINDOW rather than just above the RUN"NYANCAT" command. This is because the CPC464 ROM continues to print the CR control code even through a VDU DISABLE command. Sorry!
(or, you can forget 464 compatibility and keep the olde version... OR, you can remove the CATart completely and just have the demo)

Other than that, it's the same NYANCAT anim to chip-music!

EDIT: I almost forgot; when the CPC+ version is done, someone should create a CARTRIDGE version of it... (is that the same as a ROM version?)

The BBC Micro now has NyanCat... not as good as yours, but uses samples.

That video was ruined by the noisy audience so badly that I could not hear any sampled sounds.

To me it sounds like they sampled the full song, wich you can reduce to just 2 loops without the intro part (or maybe a few more loops if you want to reduce the size of the samples).

SyX

I prefer your AY version McKlain  ;)

And after the CPC version, i like the Atari 2600 version, too :D

Gryzor

The Beeb version is awful - what the fark are these colours? Also the sampled tune sounds really awful.

The 2600 does an admirable effort but reveals how off-key it is :D

I noticed everyone is changing the name - Nyantari, BeebNyan... What about a 'special' name for our own version?

Executioner

Looks like the BBC version uses Teletext mode. Very few screen bytes to update and leaves plenty of time to play the samples. WI'm sure we could manage an 8kHz sample in the CPC version if we tried.
