You can do 6 speed ays on cpc too? run the player every interrupt.
I thought starkos and arkos support that?
Yes, both apps support 300Hz, but that requires 6x the input of information and as the SID note numbers are opposite ours (ie high numbers are high frequencies) it's 6x the work trying to get the right notes. If I have a few weeks spare, I'll try to get it to work at 300Hz!

It wouldn't leave much CPU time left for anything else, though.

Has anyone done C64s Wizball on the AY chip?
Ok, here's my first draft of the HIGHSCORE tune (as it is the most famous) at 300Hz.

I'm not really happy with the instruments as they stand, but they are only temporary! I just wanted the notes correct before playing with instruments and pitch slides!
It still needs a lot of work, but it's audible (just) and recognisable.

EDIT: Arkos still refuses to load, so it's WinAPE volumes for now... sorry!

khisanth

hey thats a pretty good start. Cant wait for the finished tune and then the main tune  ;D

This Musicdisk Is About 20% Cooler has a version of the Barrax Empire highscore music and I think I have a copy of the intro tune as well, somewhere! I'll have to trawl through my <10Kb module collection.

Semi-related link; if you've ever seen a cracktro or keygen and wanted to know the tune used, then here's a site that has collected a fuck-load of Amiga & PC modules from such non-legal applications. There's even a "whole collection" .zip file if you feel like spending hours randomly picking through chiptunes!

SyX

And for all the amiga music lovers, you can use this trick (be nice netcitizens with the server, please ;) ):rsync -avz zakalwe.fi::chip uade/
rsync -avP zakalwe.fi::unexotica unexotica/

If there is many people interested, i could upload to dropbox, instead of hitting this server ;)

Gryzor

The high-score tune is lovely already... sure, you can hear where instruments need tuning (no pun intended), but it's a great start!

@Syx: what will this get us?

3 GBs of Amiga music in exotic formats and mainly from games :) (for demos there is another places :))

Gryzor

Would need a time life to go through them though...

sorry to be such a ponerd but...
Rainbow dash if properly paletted, has to get the inked lines of the body a different shade than the lines of the mane.
(sorry can't remember the exact name in english)... line shape ? contour lines ?
Ok, ok... I have spent a little time making a new RAINBOW DASH image, but this time in the correct palette... however... something seems wrong AGAIN! *confused*

Gryzor

Yes, Ill tell you what's wrong: it's a friggin' pony. With a rainbow coming out of its ass.

khisanth

why are people posting my little pony pictures?

Gryzor

I think it was written in John's Apocalypse.

I can always repalette it so the stuff coming outta her ass is #03 & #15, but that would be FAR worse than a rainbow coming outta there!
(And it would make the pony slightly more "real world", too)

* For example, load the HFS-LCD. file from the .dsk attached

It's not "people" in general, just a few members who are badly in need of some expensive professional help.

Gryzor

High-end escorts? Yeah, that could work as well :D

Now that kind of prize would make people finish their 16k game entry  ;D

Maybe the organizers should consider it for next time.  :P

Do you mean something like this....?

(Personally, I'd do the Rainbow Dash & Applejack models... very pretty young ladies)

EDIT: Ok, this thread has gone seriously off-topic... maybe I should release some more crappy, converted chiptunes! How about the CAR BOOT SALE (by Martin Iveson) I posted on the ShoutBox. Or his NUKELOADER tune? Or HIGHWAY by Oxide & Stargazer... or...

In true Irish style and accent....

Hm, they're a little bit too young (by about 10 years). I expect high end escorts to be in their late 20s, early 30s. But definitely in the spirit. ;)

@MaV: The 10 you mention is correct, but it's kilos and not years that needs to be improved :D
