What's the best CPC emulator for the Mac these days? I'm after one that also runs Plus/GX4000 software.
Best one would be RetroVirtualMachineV2 but it does not emulate the plus range yet ....
Sadly since Apple released MacOS Catalina most Amstrad Emulators (which are 32Bit) won't work anymore ...
Best guess for you would be Retroarch for playing GX/Plus Games
Thanks. It's a real shame. Arnold still works but I can't get it to switch to the Plus/GX4000 modes. Does anyone have any plans to create a new version?
CEPC is also a great emulator and supports the plus/gx4000 range as well.
Unfortunately, to my knowledge there are no other alternatives than to build it from source.

MAME will do the job if you don't need much in the way of CRTC trickery.

Interesting, I cannot get ANY version of Arnold working on MacOS Catalina because of the 64bit structure ... Which Version are you using ?
Just use Winape32 with Parallels for Mac or dual boot with dirty Windows 10 or better still, use a virtual machine ;)

Try out Retro Virtual Machine. The CPC is properly emulated, the Plus will come with the next version.
SkulleateR: It says it's the one compiled with 2.0.5 with a build date of 20 August 2017. It's running on Big Sur.
Thanks everyone for the steers.
If you need to compile on mac just tell me. I'll do it and maybe the job will be already done.
RVM2 is great, sadly it eat too fast my battery by turning my MBP into an airplane.
So, I'm waiting a version that allows to disable some display features to use it again.
May I suggest a try with CPCemu? https://cpc-emu.org/ (https://cpc-emu.org/)
Does anyone know how to take a screenshot of games running on the RVM2?
"Command + Shift + 4" IIRC ;)

Ah, it's nice that cut+paste works, but there's all these symbols and partial keyboards on the screen, and it grabs mouse focus, and the window isn't an integer multiplier of the CPC resolution.
