Hello,

As the subject says I downloaded a zip file from genesis8 but it's not DSK, it's just the files you would get as if you typed cat on a normal CPC (or after a DSK is loaded on emulator). I thought I could use cpcxfs to create an image but all I get is " "blah blah" is not a DSK image!" every time I try to do anything.

Can anybody tell me what to do?

Peace

run cpcxfs

type:

lcd "c:\files"
new -d test.dsk
mput *.*
close
quit

"files" is where you extracted the files to.
new -d makes a new data format disk
mput adds all files to the dsk
close then saves all and writes out dsk
quit then closes cpcxfs

You can also use WinApe.
Open a blank DATA formatted DSK into drive 0.
Press CTRL + Shift + F1 then to open disk editor dialog.
There you can drag & drop the single files onto your DSK file.
Have fun!

(JavaCPC is able to do the same with the built-in DiskUtil)

It was Donut System's Fat Ass demo, a truly terrible piece of work... shame that the only full MC demo I made (B-Boy), with a nice big scroll, ghost writer, raster equalisers, etc. and fully written by me was never released because I lost the disc it was on before I crunched and linked it. Oh well...

I remember that demo, I found it very amusing in a toilet-humour kind of way!

Speak of Donut System, is Donut Mag/Impact available on-line?
An expanding array of hardware available at www.cpcstore.co.uk (and issue 4 of CPC Fanzine!)

It made me laugh when I saw on the news that Frenchies refer to him simply as DSK.

Better than the Napoleon/Sarkozy/small-man-syndrome jokes we usually hear  ;)

You can get Impact 5 and Donut Mag 1 and 2 for an emulator if you look for them.

Being 30 now and having made them when I was about 14-16, it's pretty cringe worthy to say the least!

you can also use ManageDSK tool by Demoniak.
first create a blank DSK, then add your files and you're done.
