I'm trying to use MAME as an emulator for several computers.
I add the bios of Amstrad CPC and I can run a game using the CLI with a command like this:

mame cpc6128 -flop1 /home/user/mame/software/gemjam.dsk

If I run mame to execute MAME using the GUI then:
- If I select AmstradCPC6128+ or AmstradCPC464+ I can select the option 'Use file manager' but only works with snap files, not dsk neither tzx.
- If I select 'Amstrad CPC 6128', 664 o 464 it doesn't appear the option 'Use file manager' and I can't select any game.

I'm using MAME 0.251 under Debian 12 installed from the official repositories.

Not really sure what is going on here, the first thing the File Manager will display is a list of devices to load an image for.  Floppy disks won't be available by default on a 464 or 464+ (add the DDI-1 expansion to fix that), everything else should be there.
For the Plus systems, the file manager will appear at startup for you to select a cartridge image, which is required to run the system.
Also, MAME won't load TZX files on the CPCs, WAV and CDT are all that are supported for cassettes.
File Manager should always be available in the TAB menu (press Scroll Lock to enable UI keys).

I think this is because of MAME's parent ROM thing, and MAME's 664 and 6128 emulations are based on the 446 one.

If all three ROM files for 464, 664, 6128 are in one "464.zip" BIOS file for MAME (see attachment), then I start the CPC 6128 emulation with
mame cpc6128And use MAME GUI's file manager to select a disc or tape file.

mame cpc6128pStarts the 6128 Plus emulation. Again the GUI's file manager allows to select ".cpr" or ".bin" cartridge files, or ".dsk" disc files, or both of them together (handy when you use the "systemcard.cpr").

Similar with
mame gx4000

i use mameui64 with my 0.229 romset to list the cpc dsks and load them from there...

In my humble experience, MAME emulates the vast majority of CPC & CPCplus games and programs that I have tried. A few games or demos that use sophisticated video tricks still don't work properly. But everything else seems to work fine? MAME version 0.264 here.

Sorry for being off-topic.
