Hi,

On some disks with WinApe (eg "Infiltrator") I get the message -

QuoteThis disc will not run if WRITE-PROTECT TAB is ON: Please slide tab to cover the write-protect hole, then press any key to re-try load:

I can't seem to find an option in WinApe to change this setting on the disk - is there anything you can do?

Cheers!

Unzip infiltrator and run it as a DSK file.

Hello,

This text comes from the Speedlock protection system. It tests if the protection tab is on because, if it can't detect the protection it will format the disk !!! If you play with a zipped archive, Winape can't write on the disk, so just follow Johnny advice :-).

Yeah! This protection is an efficient means to format discs - happened to some originals too...

Doh!!!!!!!!!!!  :-[

I feel a bit stupid now, yes I was just loading the zip as usual - didn't even occur at the time that it would be the issue!
Cheers!

I wouldn't have known that there is no write support either. It's not stupid, one is just not thinking about it.

Unzip infiltrator and run it as a DSK file.

You can also just tick the "Allow Temporary Writes" check-box and it'll allow writes which don't affect the zip file.
