Winape performance - very slow

I have never had a problem with Winape before, but since a year or two ago I noticed the speed was only ever around 39/40%. Changing the setting to Normal speed or 1000% speed didnt make a difference. Deleted it and downloaded it again and also older versions and always get the same issue. Other emulators work fine.

running on Windows 11, NVIDIA gpu.

Any ideas what could be causing this or what I should check? Whilst I use Caprice Forever now, I want to use the Auto Type functionality which I only see in Winape at the moment!

Have you installed DirectPlay? You should try turning it off maybe ? The drawback is that a request message will popup every time you start Winape again, but you can chose to ignore it.
Also, you have Autotype with Caprice 4ever : just right-click on the main window.

WinCPC has this function too, I use it more often.
Wow does JavaCPC work in your setup?

It's a windows problem of course (the speed issue).

dont think i have, but no matter if I can autotype elsewhere.

Right clicking on the main window in caprice 4ever doesnt do anything bv the way, am using the latest 23.3 version

Okay will give that a try on wincpc. Yes JavaCPC works perfectly

Does anyone know if there is a way to speed up tape loading in WinAPE? surely we don't have to wait in realtime to get a real CPC experience?

Try Shift+F4
Then Shift+F3 for normal speed.
