Title: "D-Day" - Plus version in WinApe
Post by: Xyphoe on 06:31, 26 November 13
Hey guys,

I want to play the CPC+ version of "D-Day" (http://cpc-power.com/index.php?page=detail&num=683 (http://cpc-power.com/index.php?page=detail&num=683)) in WinApe, however it always loading the normal CPC version??

A couple of years ago I was playing it fine in Plus mode, and I've tried downloading lots of different disks all from cpc-power, tacgr, de.amstradabandonware.com, etc  and some old versions of the disk I found on a hard drive.

Weirdly even the older disk and older version of WinApe it still loads the CPC version and not the Plus.

I've checked in WinApe settings and I've got "6128 Plus with ParaDOS" profile selected, in the options I see CRTC Type is "3 - CPC+ ASIC", and "Enable Plus Features" and "Plus PPI Emulation" is ticked and selected.

What am I doing wrong here?

Thanks!

Sorry guys, I've worked it out now.

It was PARADOS causing the issue, in 'Memory' settings I changed 'Upper 7' to 'Empty - Cartridge Bank 3' and now the disk detects I'm running a CPC+.

Would be nice if WinApe was shipped with some Plus profiles without Parados that could be selected and loaded up.
But strange that PARADOS would cause this detection problem in the first place?

Anyway, feel free to delete or move to the Emulator sub-forum for future reference.

Seems weird, I wonder how the software detects a Plus.

No problem, will be in the next release.

Cool!  :)

Also, any progress in fixing the 'clicking sounds' when recording AVIs in the last release?

I'm still having to work with the previous release for my longplays, so I'm missing out on full screen (and HD) recording :(

The game checks the DOS (ROM 7) Version  number for 0.50 (CPC oG) or 0.7 (Plus). Get rid of ParaDOS and use the original cart. Everything should work then. Parados emits 0.50 as version number, so the game thinks it's a CPC oG.[nb]CPC oG means CPC old generation[/nb]
