Poll
Question: Should games converted to Plus/GX carts conform to: Button 1 = Action, Button 2 = Jump. (Like most NES/Arcade Games)
Option 1: Yes, this is how I'm familiar with it
Option 2: No, this would mean games with Fire as Jump would all have to be remapped.
Option 3: No, I prefer it the other way
Option 4: I don't care
Title: 2 button Game Controller Layout on Converted Games
Post by: siccoyote on 09:58, 14 November 19
I was just playing some great number of games, graciously converted by wonderful people, on the GX4000 and particularly I played the Dizzy games and found I kept going to press the wrong buttons because the Jump and Action Buttons are the other way around to the above.
I was thinking of hacking a few games myself to the SMB layout but thought I'd see what people think.
(The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade game is one of the very few I am aware of which has Jump on the Left button and I have no idea why)

If you a joypad instead of a standard joystick the use of B button to jump is more natural to the hand control.

There are some games which permits to redefine keys and usually I map them on the pad according to my desire.
But I understand that let's convert most games is an hard work.
