QuoteAgain more ESP Soft , we are surprised again with the development of a new game, which has been carried out in absolute secrecy until now, for this occasion 6128, McKlain and an old member of the Amstrad scene have joined, SyX, expert in the CPC hardware.

Source?

But also: ohhhh! Truth be told I prefer overhead views, but if it's like those NeoGeo sideways racers, like Neo Drift Out, I'm sold!!

is that overscan?

Use your favorite translator.
Overscan will be only in the loading screen. The game will use multidirectional hardware scroll.

This is the game that i have been working in the few free moments that i have been able to steal from the pos-graduation during the last year and now that i have finished that sh... :P i  should get more time for this project.

Yes, our goal is making a funny and very playable arcade game. And of course, Neo Drift Out and other 2d racing arcades were used as inspiration.
And as @Dubliner says only the loading screen is in full overscan. In this moment (and everything can change :P ) during the game the screen is only 160x240 pixels, that it's a little extra height than usual, but not a full overscan. I have added a photo from the other day tests in the real machine, sorry by the low quality, because it is captured from a cell phone video, but maybe gives a better impression of how the game look in a real monitor.
The game requirements are 128 KBs of RAM and a floppy drive. And even if there is the usual abuse of the hardware, the game should work in every CRTC configuration.

The premise of the game is racing around the world in the most iconic spanish car from the 60s and a good part of the 70s, the Seat 600. I am tired of racing always in Ferraris or Porsches, try to beat the clock in a car that can only get around 120 Km/h, hehehe.

The levels are really different and with a lot of personality, we have been joking about Unesco is going to ban our game because a lot of the crazy places that we are running are protected by them :P
The first level is in the "Ciudad Encantada" in Cuenca/Spain, an amazing place that everybody should know once in his/her life... although everybody knows already even if it's only because Conan the Barbarian (Arnie's version) was made there :P Then we will run around the Florida Keys, it has a funny reason too; the Loch Ness in Scotland, because my most beloved nephew, Dino boy, lives there now; Egypt, from Profanation to Fred... ehem from Abu Simbel to Giza  ;D );  Antarctica, around the spanish base there and for showing the nice game physics; and for last we arrive to the apotheosis final in Easter Island, the last place in the Earth where you would hope to see a 600 and a race :P

Our idea is to launch a playable demo soon (of course, take that "soon" with a lot of salt :P ) and after get some feedback, give a little more of polish to the game and released it.

Gryzor

Thanks for the lovely info :)

You could add several nice touches in those areas, like Arnold watching the race from a corner perhaps etc :D

Also: ah, that explains the 600 in the title, I didn't catch it immediately!

Well, let me know if you need beta testers ;)

AND THAT'S WHY GAMES THESE DAYS REQUIRE 128k, BECAUSE DEVS ADD USELESS STUFF TO FILL THE AVAILABLE MEMORY INSTEAD OF OPTIMISING THE GAME AND SO WE ALL HAVE TO GO OUT AND BUY THE LATEST MACHINES. DISGRACEFUL.

And it looks that everybody, too, hehehe.
But that is only decent video that we had from the tests the other day in the real machine.
I promise you that is not for building hype, that is not our intention, we are trying to be honest and humble. And we have been surprise for all the interest created around the game.
As always, a few days more and we will show the nice hardware scroll during the next session of tests in the CPC... I lack of CRT, only TFT and that it doesn't make justice to the scroll

Wow this looks great, and as a big fan of the fiat/seat 600 (I've got a 126 and cinquecento) I'm looking forward to seeing this progress.  8)

Never mind, happens to all of us. Use ZIP or provide a link. Dunno why this still happens, but I'm not a forum specialist.  :)

Because the fun thing was the picture... but don't worry, it was nothing really important, i was in the phone (and always get extra problems outside of the CPC world)... and i was in the moment of making another mini travel and i forget later about it  ::)
And yes, GUNHED, i will try to use a link the next time.
